Coming a highly comendable 2nd place in this years EVO tyre tests scoring an overall 95.3%, the Ultrac Sessanta was the choice of both EVO testers, Jethro Bovingdon and John Barker, on the road.
From EVO's wet handling test
'it was the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta that proved the tester's favourite. "Superb," said Bovingdon. "Heavy steering but backed up by strong turn-in and the ability to give more bite if you need it. Very good traction"'
From EVO's aquaplane testing
'In the straight line test, the majority of the tyres are within 5% of the Dunlop's performance, but on the wetted curve the spread is much higher, though this is largely due to an exceptional performance from the Vredestein. A star performer in the wet handling tests, the 'Giugiaro Design' Ultrac Sessanta leaves the rest in it's wake, the Bridgestone being the best of the rest some 17% down."
Testing was carried out using 225/45/17 on a VW Golf GTi
Check out this months EVO (http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/210357/this_months_evo.html) publication for their full unbiased review
With the current range covering 225/45/17 right upto 295/25/20 they're only really suitable for Newage fitment so I've only listed those prices.
Prices listed are per tyre and include VAT :thumb:
225/40/18 - £84.60
235/40/18 - £89.30
225/45/17 - £78.73
235/45/17 - £85.78
Delivery would be an additional £20.00 and fitting can be arranged in Harlow at a cost of £40.00
To order please send an email to sales@mocomracing.com and credit/debit card payments should be made via Paypal to sales@mocomracing.com including a contact telephone number, alternatively payment can be made on collection.
53WRX 09 October 2007, 13:11 :eek2: Dude thats cheap !
Imprezive_52 09 October 2007, 13:31 Can anyone tell me if these are any good?
I haven't got evo but am interested in what people think.
Cheers.
53WRX 09 October 2007, 13:39 Yes they are superb.
I had Mich PS2's before at £150 a tyre which I was really pleased with.
I am finding the sessantas much better, and at £89.30 these are a steal !
In fact £89.30 is less than I got them for in July and I thought I did well then.
Imprezive_52 09 October 2007, 13:45 I was going to wait to get my 18" Redlines + Tyres (toyo Proxes) fitted in a package but after doing my sums it looks as though these will be cheaper AND a better choice of tyre. . . . .
Bloody e-mail is down at the moment so can't make an order:mad:
53WRX 09 October 2007, 13:55 I bought rotas but bought the tyres seperately for the same reason.
Imprezive_52 09 October 2007, 14:06 53WRX - Did you get the 235/40/18 £89.30 fitment? I was under the impresion that i should get the 225/40/18 £84.60 if i was buying 18" - 7.5" size wheel for my 52 bugeye. You know if this is correct??
53WRX 09 October 2007, 14:44 If you are running 7.5's 225/40/18 is the best option IMHO. I had this on my WRX and it was fine. You could run 235's but thats alot of rubber for a 7.5. I am running 235/40/18 on 18x8's and bought them from Zak for £95 a corner. I paid £50 to a company in Maldon 'Supertyres' to fit them. In all I paid £430 but doing it now through Zak would cost me £397.20 which is a great deal.

Nice one, cheers for your help.
I've e-mailed Mocom Racing (now my e-mail is back) for a set of four 225/40/18.

Mocom Racing 10 October 2007, 09:26 I haven't got evo but am interested in what people think.
I've extracted a few coments from the EVO test and added them along with a link above. For your reference I also run them on my car, a 400bhp MY05 STi, which gets driven very hard very often :D
If they weren't upto the job, I wouldn't run them, simple as that.
SirFozzalot 10 October 2007, 11:06 Great prices!
....and I just replaced my two front tyres! :brickwall
Great deals like this isn't helping my temptation to getting a set of 18" Speedlines Zak!
:lol1: :D
frayz 10 October 2007, 12:05 I run these in 235/40/18s
Far and away the best all weather road tyre i have ever driven on. I thought Goodyear eagle F1s were good in the wet until i used the Vredesteins. Nice and firm sidewalls give a lovely positive "turn-in" and great steering feel.
Grip is fantastic in all conditions and break away very progressively when provoked beyond the limit.
Zak, how comes even I dont get em at that price??? :D
Love em :thumb:
JohnD 10 October 2007, 13:30 Hate to say this but 225/40-18 are £93.94 fitted at Elites as opposed to £94.60 fitted form Zak. The 235/40-18 are cheaper from Zak, though!
JohnD
53WRX 10 October 2007, 13:45 Blimey £73 cheaper than elites on the 235's !!!
urban 10 October 2007, 13:46 Delivery would be an additional £20.00
Is that £20 per tyre?
Very good price, but i'd guess the postage charge to N.Ireland would be quite a bit more.

I dropped Mocom an e-mail yesterday but unfortunatly i'm not at work to pick up my e-mails today so not sure what the next move is.
You reckon they'll give me a call?
pippyrips 10 October 2007, 20:20 Do you do them in 255/35/19's?

I think i'll have to place an order at that price.
Cheers,

jasonius 13 October 2007, 20:29 I'm really tempted by a set of 225 40/18's to replace my T1R's that are 80% worn..:)
How does the dry turn in compare to say a RE070, which has to be the benchmark in that area..?
It's down to sidewall stiffness I suppose..?
jasonius 14 October 2007, 20:53 ^^^^^
BTTT..;)
frayz 15 October 2007, 10:31 Turn in is far from RE070 turn in mate, but then so is everything else.
However the turn in on these is far superior to the likes of the toyo, yoko, michelin and goodyear.
My old ultracs were good, these are even better :D
Jay m A 16 October 2007, 15:56 Don't suppose these are available in 215/45/17?

For me personally, turn in is probably the biggest criteria of a tyre (has to be a good all rounder) and it's probably just as well I've never tried RE070's as I would have been spoiled..:D
The best of the rest is what I needed to hear, so it looks like I may be buying a set to keep for when my T1-rs finally need changing..:)

Just buy the RE 070 mate i bought some for the ring in July and i love em superb in the dry and surprisingly good in the wet also :)
Mocom Racing 17 October 2007, 09:45 Don't suppose these are available in 215/45/17?
Not the Sessanta unfortunately, just the original Ultrac - still a good tyre, excels in the wet but lacks the stiffer sidewall of the Sessanta.
I have one last set of the original Ultrac's in 235/45/17 - anyone interested in these for £280.00?
SirFozzalot 17 October 2007, 09:56 Will 235's fit the standard STi rim Zak, or are they too wide?
