Hi chaps
Apply what ever criteria you like, what would you guys go for, nice fireblade or high miler early R1?
I have almost grown out of my FZR 600R....still lots to learn but want a bigger bike now...especially as carrying a pillion a lot.
cheers

i found the fireblade to be more user friendly, both bikes are excellent

Depends how old you would like to grow .I had a early R1 and I have to say its the most frightening think Ive ever ridden.
I dont profess to be the best bike rider in the world so I may not be the best to comment but when you are riding along in the middle lane and a side wind hits you the R1 used to get blown around like a feather ,if used hard it was very difficult to know if it was going to spin the wheel or pick the front wheel up.Ive recently had a go on a mates of mine 2007 spec and thats much better.
I now have a fireblade ultimately its not as fast as the R1 but for me its a much better bike as unlike the R1 its main aim in life is not to kill you,the fireblade is much more forgiving you dont have to be on guard all the time you are on it

Fireblade...'user friendly and forgiving'...sounds good to me being a relative newbie.
I am stunnned that I have got used to the 600 already (3 months of bike ownership since passing my DAS)...I would always be the first to admit that i still have lots to learn when it comes to cornering etc but nevertheless I am hankering after a blade or R1 now...its my right foot so to speak and I'm not a kid anymore.
I tried a GSXR600 and it wasn't a lot quicker than what I have now...much better brakes though!!!
I orginally wanted an R6 when it came to looks but I tried one but didn't fit it very well. But I do like the early Fireblades (budget taken into account too).

don't mistake user friendly with idiot proof ;)
personally i think you are running before you can walk, you admit that you have a lot to learn on cornering and this is where big bikes will bite you in the ass when you don't have experience. the rate you can pile on the mph is so deceptive that when you arrive at that 60mph bend at 85mph you may regret your choice.
still it's your decision.

Why don't you try a 750 Gixxer?

vfr 800 imho.
can't see you actually riding the FZR that hard after 3 months, and if your owt like most bikers, theres always something shiny and new to take your fancy...even when you reallly don't need it.

ive owned 12 r1,s {still got 3 } , and various blades { just sold a blade infact }
r1 is lighter faster with better suspension and brakes ,that about somes it up :thumb: .

3 months riding a bike, then moving to an early R1 just as the damp sets in :cuckoo: ; its gonna bite you!
Fireblade is a safe bet, especially for pillion.
I'd definitely reckon its worth getting more experience on a smaller bike; you can learn so much about handling on a lighter bike that you just can't on a litre bike witout binning it.
GSXR 750's are awesome to ride, the late SRADs (WW and WX models) are great bikes and cheap these days, but you get suzuki build quality, and a numb ass if you ride for more than 1 hour at a time. well worth it though:D
