Well it's wide open again now, with Alonso quite happy for once that McLaren made an almighty cock-up over tactics.
Conspiracy anyone... ;)

View Full Version : McLaren blow Hamilton's Championship Daryl 07 October 2007, 09:06 Well it's wide open again now, with Alonso quite happy for once that McLaren made an almighty cock-up over tactics. Conspiracy anyone... ;) hux309 07 October 2007, 09:07 Bit unusual for him to slide in the gravel like that. billybenton 07 October 2007, 09:10 should av beenin at least a lap earlier.gambling on choice of tyres regarding rain or not. Daryl 07 October 2007, 09:10 Lewis: Ron, I think my right rear has had it, can I come in? Ron: Fernando says it looks fine to him, stay out for another couple of laps... http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/44161000/jpg/_44161424_hamiltongetty203.jpg Paul Habgood 07 October 2007, 09:11 er no! Lewis was driving the car and ultimately it is his dicision to pit or not, he is feeling the effects first hand. I like him and want him to win but it does show he is still young and inexperienced, i am sure he will learn from this and i doubt it will happen again. Good luck for Brazil in 2 weeks Lewis!:) Odds on 07 October 2007, 09:17 Er, thanks. Us normal people watch it at lunch time. Not much point now. FlightMan 07 October 2007, 09:18 er no! Lewis was driving the car and ultimately it is his dicision to pit or not, he is feeling the effects first hand. I like him and want him to win but it does show he is still young and inexperienced, i am sure he will learn from this and i doubt it will happen again. Good luck for Brazil in 2 weeks Lewis!:) Lewis said on air that his mirrrors were so dirty he couldn't see his tyres, but they felt shot to him. surely the team shoudl be looking at tv and the car as it goes past the pits? Brundle said 2 laps before he crashed that his tyre looked like it was down to the canvas! McLaren ballsed up. Daryl 07 October 2007, 09:19 er no! Lewis was driving the car and ultimately it is his dicision to pit or not... but it does show he is still young and inexperienced There seems to be a slight contradiction in your statement! Anyone with any sense in the McLaren team would take into account his relative lack of experience and make the decision to call him in. It was obvious when Raikkonen overtook him that Lewis was struggling for grip and McLaren should have brought him in immediately - but they took a stupid gamble to leave him out and it backfired badly! Wish 07 October 2007, 09:22 Er, thanks. Us normal people watch it at lunch time. Not much point now. Yeah thanks for that !!!! Given away by the title too ....... :Whatever_ Daryl 07 October 2007, 09:24 Yeah thanks for that !!!! Given away by the title too ....... :Whatever_ This is a car biased BBS, perhaps it's inevitable things like this will be discussed! FlightMan 07 October 2007, 09:25 This is a car biased BBS, perhaps it's inevitable things like this will be discussed! Agree. When I'm waiting for the re run I avoid the internet, TV and radio. Odds on 07 October 2007, 09:27 Its what the sports section is for. Making the title less obvious would have been nice aswell, then we would have had the option of just not opening the thread. davyboy 07 October 2007, 09:28 Us normal people watch it at lunch time. Not much point now. Normal people = Not real fans. If you want to avoid the result you should not have turned the PC on.....or the TV or the radio. Iwan 07 October 2007, 09:29 I lol'd. :lol1: Go Kimi. :D Odds on 07 October 2007, 09:32 Normal people = Not real fans. :cuckoo: Bet you and Daryl run round telling people what their Christmas presents are don't you? :D Petem95 07 October 2007, 09:34 Odd when they spoke to Lewis after the accident - first he says yeah he could see the rear tyres looking really worn down to the canvas, then in the response to the next question from Louise Goodman he says he couldn't see the rear tyres as the mirrors were dirty? Sounds like they didn't want to risk compromising his race by bringing him in a lap early, and if he hadn't crashed on the way into the pits he would have been fine. He is still very likely to win the championship though, he only needs to finish 3rd with Alonso winning in Brazil. Daryl 07 October 2007, 09:35 :cuckoo: Bet you and Daryl run round telling people what their Christmas presents are don't you? :D Jesus, get over it! pippyrips 07 October 2007, 10:07 Er, thanks. Us normal people watch it at lunch time. Not much point now. Don't go looking on a car forum full of motorsport fans until you have watched the highlights then! Paul Habgood 07 October 2007, 10:09 There seems to be a slight contradiction in your statement! Er still no, if he felt he needed to come in early or was unsure then it is still down to him, he is the driver and in charge of the car and ultimately knows how it feels during the race. alpha charlie 07 October 2007, 10:11 So glad i got up at 06:00, NOT!!!! AC:cuckoo: f1_fan 07 October 2007, 10:16 Er still no, if he felt he needed to come in early or was unsure then it is still down to him, he is the driver and in charge of the car and ultimately knows how it feels during the race. Exactly Paul, if it had been Alonso in the same situation he would just have driven into the pits and forced the issue. Sorry, but they win as a team and lose as a team, McLaren and Lewis made a mistake, they are equally to blame as they work together, it's as simple as that. Trouble is many Brits will be looking for similar excuses if he doesn't win it in Brazil. :Whatever_ Personslly I hope Kimi can still snatch it, now that wold be funny :D Petem95 07 October 2007, 10:39 Personslly I hope Kimi can still snatch it, now that wold be funny :D Ditto :) I would like to see Kimi win it! Hamilton plays the media very well, but I don't really like the guy. Alonso moans too much, so I would like to see Kimi do it. dpb 07 October 2007, 10:42 Its what the sports section is for. Can't wait for Brazil, it's going to be a cracker! f1_fan 07 October 2007, 11:05 All too often recently, the WDC has been sewn up far too early  , so we should see some great racing which WILL be worth getting up for so bring it on:thumb: Do you work nights? Brazil is on around 5pm our time :D Jerome 07 October 2007, 11:06 If this had been posted in the sports section, it wouldn't have spoilt it for those that wanted to watch at lunchtime. Not impressed. By the spoiler and the result. I'd like Hamilton to clinch it in Brazil, but if he doesn't, I'd rather it go to Kimi than Alonso. fast bloke 07 October 2007, 11:10 If Alonso wins and Hamilton is 3rd in Brazil that would leave them on equal points with ALonso on 5 wins and Hamilton on 4. Would Alonso not get the title in that case? Jerome 07 October 2007, 11:14 If Alonso wins and Hamilton is 3rd in Brazil that would leave them on equal points with ALonso on 5 wins and Hamilton on 4. Would Alonso not get the title in that case? Yes he would. It's done on a win countback if drivers tie on points. |
