Hi all

I am returning to biking and am looking at the above mentioned machine as i have owned one before.
I have a couple on my short list one being a 1999 CBR600 FX with 24k miles.
Is there much to worry about with CBR 600's with mileages in the 20k's
Plus, anything i should look out for?
Nik.

Buddy bought one 6 months ago.

apparently someone in the know told him cam chains can get a bit rattly - but this is easily resolved.

he has the 99 FX version,

I have to say its a superb all round bike that does everything and certainly quick enough (almost 160mph)

Better mid range than the GSXR600 and R6 Yam

The only other bike in this class i'd consider is the ZX6

This is the model he has....

By the way Hondas can take massive mileages without falling to bits, just look at all the VFR's out there.

CBR's can easily take 50-60k+ if serviced.

Plus do your shopping about.

buddy searched around and saw one with 28k on for 2700, i found one on t'internet later on with only 16k on and he paid 2800 for it.

Thanks for the replies.
Bikes i'm considering are both 99 T's one with 24k on it for 2795 and the other with 12k on it for 2995.
These prices are trade so do they seem about right or should i be asking for some off bearing in mind the time of year that we are approaching.

Wont go wrong with a cbr6 i've had a few of them back to the jelly mould one. Cam chains get a bit rattly but can be put right for under £100 and the usual Honda build quality is alive in the cbr range. I have a VTR1000 at the mo with 28000 on it and it looks better than some other jap bikes that are only 2 years old.:notworthy

try and make sure you get the first of the fuel injected models m8 , as these are far better than the carb models :thumb: .

What year/model was fuel injection introduced?

2001 i think but you will pay more as you would for any model revision.
Fuel injected bikes may be better but trust me, my mates had his FX now for 6 months and is still buzzing about it.

another mate sold his R6 because it was a little buzzbox and got back on an FX because he could ride quicker on it believe it or not.
Said mate now has a spankers Gixer 750 yet still tells me his Honda was the best all round bike he has ever had - and he's been riding 15 years:thumb:

yea 2001 m8 , just worth considering as they rated the f4i as the best 600 there was at the time , and i also had a pal that bought 1 after owning the carb model and said it was tons better { horses for courses and all that }
just depends how far you can stretch ya budget m8 :thumb: .
