Just moved house, new drive is block paved. Unfortunately the removal van was dripping oil and we now have a lovely stained drive.
Is there anything I can use that will get it off without discolouring the paving?

Don't laugh, but try a bottle of Coke.

put some washing up liquid on it leave it there till it rains and it will be gone - just did the same thing at home when we (the wife) spilt used oil on the drive

Cheers

Whats more worrying is, if it desolves oil, what does it do to your internals? :wonder:

Ps. I wouldn't worry about what the neighbours think, the fact you turned up in a noisy scoob, they will have already formed their opinions! :lol1:

Lazy way - Cover it in washing powder and leave it on. If it doesn't all disappear the next time it rains do it again.

If you can be ar5ed, pour petrol on it, cover it with cement dust, brush it up quickly and rinse thoroughly with soapy water then clean water. If you don't rinse the cement dust off quickly it will leave a big white stain that never goes away

Removes any used engine oil you've been drinking?

I had a mate once that spent 20 quid on cleaning products trying to remove oil stains from blockpaving.
It ended up looking worse after he'd finished trying!!!!

In the end he called me for help. . .
I just replaced the 5 blocks that were stained with some spares I had :thumb:

They're only about 20p a block so I think its the easy option.

By far the best way is to take out the oil covered blocks and replace in my humble opinion. Have done it once or twice for clients.

my kit car leaked oil on my drive a couple of times, plus we have had contractors with leaky vans parking on newly laid blocks at work - sprinkle dry cement onto the affected area. rub round with newspaper and and more cement/change the paper when it starts to wear out. was dubious when i heard this, but have seen it used effectively a number of times; twice on my own driveway

Do you even need to replace them - just pull the oiled ones out and turn them over before you put them back?

Can't do that, the blocks have a top and bottom to them, totally different.

They're cheap enough to buy anyway!
