no particular r1 probs m8 , same as any bike just normal checks ,
smoke / rattling when cold
worn headstock bearings
swingarm bushes
rear shock lower linkage
only thing springs to mind is the exup servo valve in the headers sometimes get abit sticky / faulty { no biggy }
etc etc etc
all i would be aware of is the underseat exhaust conversion { which i aint a fan off } because they tend to melt the battery tray or electrics , or overheat relays electrics etc . to combat this some underseat exhaust conversions make you move all of the above , so just check its all been done properly , and dont forget to find out if its been jetted to suit the exhaust .
there bullit proof normally , with just routine maintenance / oil changes needed , just check the service history and the general condition of the bike will tel ya wether its been loved or not .
loved my last 01 carb r1 ,,,,,,,, and the 03 r1 front forks and rear shock go straight on and are superb improvement over the slightly softer older kit .
cheers
