Stevie,
If you got your Advanced Driving Test or completed the Roadwise scheme you could reduce your premiums. Adelaide in Belfast are an Insurance company who offer good discounts for the members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists in NI and the IAM have groups in Belfast, Craigavon, Bangor and in the West of NI as well. Its worth doing, improves your skills and shows that you are interested in improving your driving skill and knowledge andd being responsible, so to speak.
Normally helps the insurance a bit too. Being 21 you probably need all the help you can get insurance wise.

£2700 a year to insure it - are you mad?
Is that fully comp, or 3rd party?

If its fully comp, would you not be better off just insuring for 3rd party F&T.
I don't know what age the car it, but that value of it can't be too much more that you're insurance premium I would have thought.

Good luck reducing it though.

Mate, Greenlight all the way :thumb: :thumb:

Im 28 :cuckoo: and drive a turbo 2000, everyone quoted £2200+ up to £3000

Scott put me onto Greenlight, all mods declared, (not there are many), hey presto, came up trumps £670

:eek2: I said as I feel off my seat with joy, give them a shout, you've nothing to lose and everything to save.

Hi Fella's,

Many thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated.

Having seen the content of this thread I thought it best to clarify our current Underwriting criteria for Subaru Models..

We do not currently cover Imported models and will continue to exclude these until Subaru UK sanction the repair/supply of parts to these vehicles.

However, we can cover all UK (first registered) Impreza models that were first puchased via Subaru UK.

Modifications are not a problem either, we have a decent technical understanding of the available modifications & their impact upon a vehicle, which ensures that your modifications will be rated sensibly and are covered under our specialist vehicle schemes on a 'like for like' replacement basis.

To obtain a sensible premium drivers must be aged 23 or over, have held a Full UK License for at least 3 years, have actual NCB in their own name and experience of a performance car.

We've written Subaru business for an awfully long time now and have built an effective risk profiling & assesment criteria which strikes a balance between being competitive, along with providing a decent relevant policy cover package.

So.. if you're in need of a quotation for cover we'd be happy to help you - either click our sponsors link or visit Welcome to Greenlight Insurance, Modified Car Insurance Specialist (http://www.greenlightinsurance.com) for a quotation.

Kind regards

Tony

Stevie

I had to wait for years until I could afford to insure a turbo. It's just something you have to get used to, I wanted the car but could not afford the insurance. I bought a 1.6 and drove it for 5 years, most people could not tell the difference between it and a turbo. You could do a lot with a 1.6 before you wait 8 years, if you are prepared to step back.
