Hi guys, this was a busy day! MrSimpon asked me to detail his 06 STi and arrived at my house at just before 10 am on saturday. After dropping him as his other half off at the train station so that they could have a nice day out at southend, i went back on got cracking. I had a little help for this one as the wheels were coming off, the arches were to be cleaned, the engine bay detailed, the interior detailed and of course the outside.

First off i thought that it didn't need doing as this car was pretty clean. But on closer inspection there were a few swirls.

Anyway the products used were Menz power gloss compound, Menz Intensive polish, megs hyper wash, super now foam, Megs super degreaser, tardis, poorboys natural look dressing, mothers glass cleaner, megs nxt metal polish, autoglym interior shampoo, megs abraisive clay bar, mothers california detailer, menz one step acrylic jacket and i'm sure i've missed some. :lol1:

the process used was that of what i listed on a thread the other day:

exterior:
get the car up onto the axel stands,
remove wheels,
soak arches with degreaser,
lay the wheels face down on something soft so as not to damage the face and soak inside of the rim with bug and tar remover,
agitate b&t on arches with wheel well brush and rinse off with pressure washer,
agitate b&t on inside of rim with wheel brush and rinse off with pressure washer,
apply megs super degreaser cut to 4-1,
leave to soak for 10 mins,
agitate with tooth brush,
rinse with pressure wash then repeat,
run egine to dry,
rinse car with pressure wash to remove any big lumps of dirt that may be on the car,
foam and soak - leave for 10 mins,
while soaking clean the front face of the wheels with wheel cleaner,
rinse wheels with pressure washer,
apply tardis all over car - leave to soak for 2 mins,
rinse with pressure washer,
foam with a less "foamy" mixture - just use more water,
wash with 2 bucket method,
rinse with pressure washer,
dry with drying towel - pat dry,
clay using claybar and lube,
dry using microfibre towel as you go along,
seperate clay to remove any last marks from the wheels,
rinse with pressure washer,
foam and soak - 10 mins,
rinse with pressure washer,
open doors, bonnet & boot and clean shuts,
dry with drying towel,
dress engine bay with 303 aerospace protectant,
mask up ready for polishing - door shuts, glass rubbers, door looks handles etc,
polish by porta cable 7424,
remove masking tape and clean up any polish that manged to get into where didn't want it,
apply acrylic sealant inc door shuts etc,
clean and dress trim (glass rubbers, door handles, wheel arches etc) - zymol carbon,
apply poorboys natty's blue - spit shined,
clean the glass inside and out,
put the wheels back on the car,
requested not to dress the tyres.

Interior:

Remove all items that can be removed, mats, rubbish etc,
hoover out thoroughly,
get dust out of vents, clocks and buttons while hooving,
clean down all plastics with a fairly strong mix of soap liquid and warm water applied with a terry cloth,
dry with another terry cloth,
wipe over with white spirit and terry cloth to remove anything else,
soap / water mix steps again,
using a damp clean terry cloth wipe the plastics until no soap is left,
treat plastics with poorboys natural look dressing,
shampoo cloth seats - not alcantara sections,
shampoo the carpets.

so here's some pics. there were a couple of spots on the car that were wetsanded, these were the bad scratch on the bottom of the rear bumper, the inside of the exhaust and a stone chip that had ben touched in on the door.

Cracking job there, can I ask what pressure washer you would recommend to someone not wanting to do this for a living? I assume yours is a Karcher?
