SCD Simon 17 September 2007, 08:31 Been away at the weekend so no PC handy. Still in a state of shock really :(
I was into rallying before Colin was on the scene but like many others it was Colin and his antics in the scooby which led me to what i drive today so for that thanks Colin.
Colin is a legend !
My thoughts are for all the families affected by this terrible tragedy.
RIP Colin

Dave1980 17 September 2007, 10:12 A truly sad day for motorsport as a whole. As many of you on here i bought a scooby because of Colin McRae and Richard Burns rallying them to championships.
Met Colin at Rallyday last year and the year before and he has time for everyone interested in the sport and plenty of time for his fans.
Even though i dont have a scooby anymore i would glady turn up for a meet so show my respect.
Cant say much more other than i hope him and burnsie are rallying in place.
carter x 17 September 2007, 10:26 what can you say another great british rally driver gone before his time.
it was watching colin on the rac that got me hooked on rallying, and when he won it for the first time in 94 after doing his dounuts passed us the champagne bottle over the railings at cheltnam race course,a day i will never forget.
RIP colin, jonney.graeme, ben and my condolences to both families.
drb5 17 September 2007, 10:30 He'll forever live on as the legend he always was.
I suggest a grand gathering somewhere central to everyone and include Subaru, Prodrive and all other rally teams. A complete show that is based fully around Colin and the rallying world. He made it what it is and this should be on show to Subaru drivers, rally spectators(from not JUST Subaru) and ANYONE who wishes to go. A show that should be advertised not just on these forums but anywhere....Top Gear, Evo magazine, adverts on TV??
It may be a bit hard to get everyone needed involved, but i feel he's worth it.
Long live the legend. :(
Just to add to this, including maybe a "Special Stage" held in a type of stadium or track, would have been a good idea? Just something to bring all the rally teams together....obviously remembering not just Colin, but Richard and anyone else in the sport that have lost their lifes.
robuk 17 September 2007, 10:32 A true gentleman and a Rallying legend never to be forgotten
RIP Colin
Rob

scoobberdoo 17 September 2007, 11:20 I doubt we'll ever see his likes again!! A complete tragedy!
RIP
finalzero 17 September 2007, 11:29 Shocked when heard this, was watching some news footage yesterday, still couldn't believe it.
He was the reason I ever found out about Subaru Impreza's and rallying - damn shame and a loss but we all have to go some time, some of us leave a big dent in the world when we do.
The loss of 3 other lives, including his son really makes it a tragedy, I have a four year old son myself and I can only imagine the loss the mother must be going through, tragic.
The best thing we can do is remember him as he was, one of a kind and a complete natural at what he did.
SuperBlades 17 September 2007, 11:41 Sleep well Colin
mneame 17 September 2007, 11:48 Information for those attending Rally Day
Colin McRae Tragedy
In light of the terrible news of the loss of Colin McRae, his son Johnny and two other family friends, the organisers of Rallyday will be asking everybody attending the event this Saturday to observe a one minute silence at 12:00 as a mark of respect.
As a further mark of respect by those attending rally day, we will be tieing a black ribbon to the drivers side wing mirror of our Imprezas. To keep this uniform throughout the Impreza community I have spoken with JD5217 and we have agreed that the Ribbon should be solid black and 1" thick. Length to be confirmed this evening.
If you are travelling to rally day please have the ribbon on your car as you travel to the event. If however you are unable to obtain this before the event please come and see me on the SIDC stand.
Please forward this information to those that you know who are attending in an Impreza.
Many Thanks,
Matt.

sunsh 17 September 2007, 13:28 Will now forever regret not heading up to the rally track in the woods on Sunday at Goodwood this year, "we'll see him in the dry next year". He's also the reason I own my classic scoob.
Thanks for all the thrills and the spills, will never be forgotten.
Rossco_ 17 September 2007, 13:31 With a motto like "If in doubt, flat out" he could be nothing less than a legend.
