As the original creator of ScoobyNet, I felt I had to post about the sad loss of Colin. Colin was what brought me to purchasing a Scooby in 1997, and I remember with, probably fellow old SIDC members, watching him in action at my first Lombard RAC rally. He was such a contribution to the sport and a pure gentleman. With Richard gone aswell the pain is even worst. Why do we always loose such talent, such charm and passion, at such a young age. RIP Colin you have always been a inspiration to both young and old, whether in your car or at home in the virtual world. Heart goes to your family.

Drive fast, hard and with the courage you always showed.

After the trully tragic events on Saturday afternoon, still almost too difficult to take in....................with the loss of Colin, and Burnsy and the great Roger Clark, have any other British drivers won the GB round of what is now called the WRC.

I have spent some time today thinking of some of the men we have lost, men you have given me a passion for rallying, thank you each and everyone.

Gone but not forgotten.

Colin - this ones for you Mate.

Would it be possible to have memorial message sickers made to put on cars. Im sure any extra made on them could go to some of the mentioned charities. I realise I am a new member but still a fan hurt by the loss of a true legend

Foreveer in our hearts and memories colin.

RIP to all aboard he tragic craft

Very sad news indeed :(. I organised a charity run today where we had a minutes silence for the great man. My thoughts are with the family and all those who were close to him.

I first saw the news late yesterday, and was stunned.

Being at the rally, and watching Colin McRae driving his Surbaru many years ago hooked me on the sport for life.

A fabulous driver, he will be remember as a motor sport legend. For his son, and also a friend and their child to be killed is an additional tragedy.

My sympathies go out to his wife and daughter.

I used to be a rally timekeeper and I still clearly remeber the drive he put in against his team mate Francois Chatriot, an acknowledged tarmac specialist (who stuffed it heavily ibnt he rear end but continued with some magic from the Prodrive boys), on the Isle Of Man in 1991, yet he was still a cool customer both at the beginning and the end of the stages in the Legacy RS.

I bought my first Legacy less than 3 years in 1994 later and 2 years after that I ran in my first Impreza going to the Isle of Man for the rally. Sold my last Impreza in December 2006 after over 12 years of Subaru ownership. Thank you Colin, your work for Subaru made my life all the richer by owning 5 of these cars.

A true genius and a gentleman was lost yesterday.

It is said God take those he loves most first. Colin and Richard, the only British World Rally Champions; gone but never forgotten.

What a loss. A tragedy for the families.

We had a one minute silence at our charity drive to the Humber Bridge today, but that is of little help in such situations.

A regional set of interlinking drives might be an idea, county border to county border, maybe to hand on something to a charity of the family's choice.

It could have been a much worse weekend too as the boss of Prodrive walked away from a helicopter crash today at North Weald.

Can't beleive it, just heard on the news....

Colin has inspired me for years for his talent in rallying, I started out ralling as im sure many others did by trying to be colin in the excellent Colin McRae Video Games. The next step was to own an Impreza to get the thrills of what its like to be a rally driver.

What a huge loss the world has had.

What a man.

RIP Colin we will miss you.

I believe a memorial should be made, such talent should not be forgotten.

Maybe Subaru & Prodrive might consider a Colin McRae special edition Impreza?

Adam, after the RB320 I would personally prefer to remember Colin for what he achieved, and gave to the sport, and not a sales opportunity. IMHO.
