The wife owns a black 55 plate 2.2 tdci she came home tonight and a seagull had dropped its guts all over the bonnet the father in law spat on his hanky and rubbed it off now there is a large dull patch in the paintwork looking at it there must have been fine sand in it is there anything I can get to polish this out without doing anymore damage or is it going to be a case off taking the car to a proffessional it looks to me like its only the laquer that has the fine scratches in it the paintwork underneath looks ok.
cheers

get yourself something like the menzerna intensive polish and a german applicator pad. clean the car thoroughly using 2 bucket method and then dry it using a microbfibre drying towel. clay the car. once you've done that, work in sections and apply a pea size amount of polish to the white side of the GAP and work until the polish goes clear. buff off residue. then make sure you seal it with a good wax.

you may not be able to rid of it completely though polishing by hand, but you will imrpove it.

As above; if this doesn't work, you'll need to call in a professional to machine polish the panel. If this turns out to be required, post whereabouts you are and we may be able to help point you towards someone reputable. :)
