All shot on my now redundant 20D, 70-200 F2.8L with a crappy x1.4 converter :D
Sonic' 11 September 2007, 16:08 How come redundant Kev, you got yourself the new 40D ? :D
Your 70-200 isn't redundant too is it ?
flat4 11 September 2007, 16:10 Yep, it's for sale as of today, 40D should be with me tomorrow, weighed up the pros and cons of getting a 1D IIn/III against the 40D and couldn't warrant the extra grand or 2 :)
...and i can't see me ever selling the 70-200 :D
CooperS 11 September 2007, 16:20 fantastic pics fella :D
joni 11 September 2007, 20:50 All your recent racing pics are great...Respect :notworthy
mgcvk 11 September 2007, 21:22 I'm not too hot at this panning lark. Is it all in the wrist so to speak?:Suspiciou What shutter speeds are you at?
Lathafummi 11 September 2007, 21:52 How did the over the top slow shutter ones come out?
CharlieWhiskey 11 September 2007, 22:55 Great pics Kev :thumb: Keep that 40D away from me for a bit will ya, I have other things I need to spend my money on right now
flat4 11 September 2007, 23:03 I'll bring it on Thursday if it turns up, Chris :p
They came out crap, Den, as did most of the Meganes, that's the best i could find, no matter how good you think you are 1/40 sec isn't going to work! :lol1: think 100/125 sec is the minimum i can get good results with unless i take a thousand shots :D
555-Shaggy 12 September 2007, 12:52 I'll bring it on Thursday if it turns up, Chris :p

Scooby-kid 20 September 2007, 17:55 Sorry for the stupid question, but which car is P'S'? is it the car behind?
Scott.
Scooby-kid 20 September 2007, 17:58 Looking at it again, it could be the front one, they both look like they should be threr to me!?!?!
Scott.
CharlieWhiskey 20 September 2007, 23:11 Sorry for the stupid question, but which car is P'S'? is it the car behind?
Scott.
It's the fake reduced depth of field on the background Scott, the cars are real :thumb:
It's a very useful technique which you can do in Photoshop and some other progammes to select an area (i.e. not the main focus of attention) and then add lens blur or motion blur :)
flat4 21 September 2007, 14:17 Shouldn't have said anything :lol1: I just wanted to seperate the cars from the background a bit more and give it a bit more impact, it's not the nicest background in the world as there's far too much happening to draw the attention away from the subject and i knew that when i took it, but needs must to get the right angle. So i've just increased the depth of field via photoshop rather than spend 3-4k on a lens :D
here's the original :)

I might have a few pics of you @ Time Attack at Brands if you're interested, let me know and I'll have a rummage.
flat4 22 September 2007, 09:32 I was a bit dissapointed at the quality of the official ones at Brands if i'm honest with you so would be interested :)
Scooby-kid 24 September 2007, 16:59 Ahhh, thanks.
That could come in quite useful!
Scott.
Geezer 24 September 2007, 17:02 Yep, it's for sale as of today, 40D should be with me tomorrow, weighed up the pros and cons of getting a 1D IIn/III against the 40D and couldn't warrant the extra grand or 2 :)

If you'd gone for the 1D MKIII none of those would have been in focus ;)
Excellent shots sir!
