I know, I know, probably getting way ahead of myself here, but what the hell :D

What would be the ideal settings for panning shots of cars/bikes/boats when using a Panasonic FZ8?

The Scene setting on the rotary knob has a panning option, so I'd guess that would be a good place to start, but are there any modifications to those settings that would make for a better shot? If not using the panning option, what about the sports option, that any better?

What other mode, apart from Simple, as you cannot change too many things there, would be best for panning shots, and what settings would you recommend?

I now use the Panning option on my FZ7. It does take a little practice, but worth it in the end. As you know I am a relative beginner, but I am learning.

As for the settings I just leave them apart from the exposure, which I adjust according to the conditions.
