some nice ideas a couple feel a bit dark, especially the cat one, maybe lighten it up a little in PS, also some of them, 1st and 3rd ones, could also add some noise in PS to these add a little atmosphere to them :)

I like the first one, apart from the focus point is a bit too close. They could all do with a tweak of the levels to fill more of the histogram (i.e. more contrast)

Are they shot in monochrome or channel mixed in CS2? :wonder:

I think a lot of things look an aweful lot better in monochrome:thumb:

all shot in monochrome and raw and converted to jpeg

You will get a lot more detail on the first one, and maybe the 3rd, if you shoot them in RAW and use the Channel mixer in CS2 to balance up the colours :)

5 minutes in CS2: Levels, crop to 3rds and add a 16 channel posterised layer (42% opacity)

I must add it helps to have a calibrated monitor to mess about in black & white as well as colour :thumb:

If you have the RAW image have a play about in the channel mixer to see the effects of using a different mix of colours, you should at least be able to change the balance between the door and the foliage :thumb:

Thing about monochrome, is never shoot straight mono in camera. Shoot colour Raw and then tweak it in post procesing. You'll get a much bettter results. Black and white can give harsh graphic effects, but sepia is more gentle. Hard decicions on thre move, but easy on the PC.

try using a yellow or blue filter, especially if the sky is involved.

good effort :)
