KYB AGX will do the job. There is/was a groupbuy on here for them.

Konis are probably better but not everyone wants the bother of converting the old struts.

I have just fitted whiteline flat out springs with KYB AGX Shocks. Only finished it last night so I haven't had it set up and tested yet.

Try here for the shocks....eBay Motors: KYB AGX STRUTS SHOCKS SUBARU WRX SEDAN 02 - 03 (item 160134605352 end time Jul-07-07 13:47:48 PDT)

They do them for newage and classic. The shocks set me back £340 including delivery and duties for a newage and that's about £150 better than any group buy price.

I did the Koni/ Stock strut deal and it was not that big of a deal. I had the AGX and really despised them. Not a good shock IMO. Worthless for B roads and such...where the Koni's shine. I had mine revalved a bit for B roads and couldn't be more happy. The job is a snap...an I'm a lass for heavens sake. There are plenty of How To's around the net on this.
Here's my DIY on the subject>

SekretSkwirl, I thought you were using ASTs?

I'm not a great fan of the AGXs but they do an adequate job (IMO) at a lowish price. What was your problem with them?

I ran a GB for the AGX around Christmas and fitted mine with Eibach springs and I think they are an excellent road shock.
Thanks,
Paul.

Duncan I decided the AST' were just a bit too firm for the terrible roads here in the Sierra Nevada....just atrocious. Lack of state funding has so many roads ignored and in dire straits. Sorry I have not updated lately. I sold that first Yellow Bug i for an 04 STi. That was nice. Added a few mods and soon enough I was spending waaaay too much time over the 160 kph mark. Actually had it over 200 at one point lol. Trouble was just waiting so I sold that and took the Koni's off that and now with a fresh white wingless 02 Bug i project. I stripped all the suspension stuff off of both and have plenty to work with. I've been working with a company called PSi located at Infineon Raceway re working and valving the Koni set up. My freind Bruce from the UK is the brain child there and a great chap.
The AGX? Well your right they are a great budget option for your average owner...in fact not bad on the track as well. Only 4 way adj. was just not enough for me. Is it not strange that such a popular car and a huge aftermarket that the options for just plain old struts are LIMITED to about 4> Tokico, Koni, AGX and Ohlin....that's it . For now it's Koni for the every day driving and soon a track specific set of COIL OVERS. I had fun makng the KONI set up as it's really childs play....a chimp could do it with the right tools and a thumb
