Sounds like a good idea. But I'm not sure if most people are aware, but with EBC, there is a already a 15% discount and free delivery code at the top of this forum http://bbs.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyres-brakes-13/
But obviously if they can improve on that it would be even better.

ebc pads are great, and don't let anyone tell you differently. I've had a set on my my03 sti for just over a year now, and had no problems. Stopped me everytime with no issues. (redstuff)
Now I'm after replacing my discs and pads at the same time, as my discs have finally worn out (standard brembo discs) so I've organised a gb with Nitrac here: http://bbs.scoobynet.com/group-buys-356/623611-nitrac-performance-brake-disc-pads-gb.html
If you look at the price of the pads when bought with the "better than ebc" discs, you'll not find a better price than that anywhere :D

Sorry, but my red stuff ceramics + grooved/dimple discs were scrap after just 6000miles on my old sti4. That was normal road use aswell  The pads had just 2-3mm left and the discs were warped, causing massive brake judder.
I replaced them with oe standard discs and pads for just £100. As far as i'm awear, Lee who bought my car, is still running the same setup some 20000 miles later. Go figure! :D

And, to be honest, the ebc pads were verging on the side of dangerous when cold.

Standard discs with either pagid or tarrox pads is a much better setup.

Sounds to me Chris that you had a duff set. Did you go back to EBC and complain? Either that or your "normal road use" is in fact heavy braking everywhere all the time :D I had the same setup on my mapped my99 classic and managed a 2500 mile around europe trip (inc a few laps of the nurby) with no problems whatsoever. They lasted a lot longer than 6k as well.
Heavy right foot? :)

i'll have Yellow stuff for an 03 sti, should a group buy go ahead.

I dont need pads for a good few months but i'd buy them early if the price was right.

Would a heavy right foot give me 23-24mpg in a classic shape sti?? I think not! :D
