View Full Version : Autocar 0-100-0! Bike kicks car butt. Mr Leigh 03 August 2007, 13:20 They kept it in the small print and out of the final table this year, but the GSXR-1000 smoked them all. slim_boy_fat 03 August 2007, 13:40 To be expected really. :lol1: Took me ages to find the bit about the bike, about 5 lines. Wouldnt say no to the Superleggera mind you. :luvlove: Bakerman 03 August 2007, 14:14 Ah yes but most of us could do impressive times in a car (hit pedal 1 then hit pedal 2 very hard) but not many of us would be as impressive on the bike, much trickier to launch/stop quickly. jjones 03 August 2007, 14:58 Ah yes but most of us could do impressive times in a car (hit pedal 1 then hit pedal 2 very hard) but not many of us would be as impressive on the bike, much trickier to launch/stop quickly. takes about the same amount of practice to get it right on the bike as it does a car. difference is you can practice all day on your bike without the worry (well 99% worry free) of something going bang (well if you have a jap bike ;) ) slim_boy_fat 03 August 2007, 16:14 takes about the same amount of practice to get it right on the bike as it does a car. difference is you can practice all day on your bike without the worry (well 99% worry free) of something going bang (well if you have a jap bike ;) ) Spot on, never understood why people say that its so hard to launch a bike. After 10 runs at standing starts any remotly competent person would be able to post pretty good times. Even someone who is poor would easily post sub 12 sec times for 1/4 mile. To be fair its not the acceleration its the braking on the bike which would be a bit harder. Thats where cars are much much easier. andrewdelvard 03 August 2007, 18:27 Spot on, never understood why people say that its so hard to launch a bike. . I think its because :gasp: people get scared of wheelies. NotoriousREV 03 August 2007, 21:42 I'm not scared of wheelies, I'm scared of flipping the fooker ;) Although the only bike I ever flipped was a mates crosser :lol1: slim_boy_fat 03 August 2007, 22:24 The clutch is your friend Normski 04 August 2007, 15:09 Or a bit of rear brake. Muerde 23 August 2007, 22:18 Or just get fat and lean over the front wheel really easy to launch then at the expence of a clutch eventually. I was fine until I lost weight and found out how easily the front wheel lifted.. :) 18stone is your friend. jjones 24 August 2007, 11:07 sitting as far forward and leaning with full tank of fuel keeps the fron down nicely, but where's the fun in that ;) fivetide 24 August 2007, 13:12 Spot on, never understood why people say that its so hard to launch a bike. Aye but 12 seconds on a bike that could do it in just over 10 is absolute rubbish isn't it? on a 1/4 mile strip it is a huge difference. Knowing/feeling the clutch slip, the power winding on etc is not easy but you are right, braking has to be the most difficult bit. 5t. slim_boy_fat 26 August 2007, 01:20 Aye but 12 seconds on a bike that could do it in just over 10 is absolute rubbish isn't it? on a 1/4 mile strip it is a huge difference.
