Its up for renewal again and Yamaha who I have used for years as they always had the cheapest quote have come back with it being £30 more than last year. Have they forgotten its supposed to get cheaper as you get older? £330 fully comp for a 34 yr old with 9yrs ncd on a 929 fireblade worth less than £3k. I think thats too much.

Its always the same though, I have to get a better quote from somewhere else and then they guarantee to beat it. Tried ebikes but they were £100 more.

Who has been cheapest for you this year?

Motorcycle Insurance, Motorbike Insurance, Moped, Scooter, Bike (http://www.bennetts.co.uk/)
but all the quotes i got very pretty much the same

Performance Direct and/or Adrian Flux. They played off well against each other.

I had a car accident i told them about and the premium for the Ninja didn't go up. Bennets insure my winter GSX600F though £75 for the year! Different brokers will do deals on different bikes so unfortunately you have to shop around.

H&R came back with £215 :D Told Yamaha and emailed them proof of the quote and they now have to beat it :thumb: Waiting for the call from their manager as they were a bit upset their best is £330 and H&R managed £215 :lol1:

Used H&R for many years, swapped this year to Carole Nash ( who previously used to be way more expensive than anyone :0/ )

It's a funny business is insurance..

Express came back at £370 so its definately a case of phoning around all the companies every year.

Edit: Express just called saying my online quote was expensive and they think an advisor on the phone would get it a lot lower. Didn't have time to speak so calling back later, can't see them beating £215 though.

only one way to get that quote down..

..pick up bike trader, get the phone, cuppa tea and coupla hours set aside to call em all....

...then take the best 3 or 4 and see who comes down further.

if you can be arsed, hahahah

CIA £199 for an 06 YZFR1, full legal an the gubbins, an remember dont go with the renewal ALWAYS ring and say that you can get cheaper from another company, I always have an have never been asked to provide proof.
Plus your bike will depreciate a bit from 1 year to the next and the renewal is always on last years price:norty: :norty:

CIA are Yamaha Insurance, its just another trading name as a sister company but are one and the same people.

I was asked to prove the cheaper quote by emailing them through the emailed version of the quote I got from the other company, they do not take peoples word for it!

I use ebike to get a baseline and then negotiate with brokers, this year with CN (have used them before and particularly their breakdown cover which was superb) insuring around 20k worth of bike (there are 3) for £400 fully comp (highest rated is an SP2). Nice area, good ncb, 30k a year, blah blah but always negotiate.

All done now. £215 fully comp with protected ncd including 3 points and a 50/50 car insurance claim. More than happy with that :thumb:
