View Full Version : Tunnels around manc BigBez 20 July 2007, 23:12 im in Denton Manchester and just wondered wheres the nearest road tunnel pref quite long..ish  around manchester cw42 20 July 2007, 23:54 Your best bet is the tunnels under Manchester Airport, here: manchester airport uk - Google Maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=manchester+airport+uk&sll=42.929531,-71.438599&sspn=0.129459,0.2314&safe=on&ie=UTF8&ll=53.344557,-2.282324&spn=0.026389,0.05785&t=h&z=14&om=1) which is the a538 off the m56. Be careful around there though, as there are armed police on patrol all the time, and they don't take kindly to boy racers giving it beans through the tunnels :D Picture I took a while ago: http://fp.wilky42.f9.co.uk/CAR/GRAPHICS/parts_and_misc/tunnel-interior.jpg BigBez 21 July 2007, 15:08 thats excellent mate...nice 1 ill check it out BigBez 22 July 2007, 18:49 went saturday night not far from me at all 2 tunnels too cameras in 2nd one none in the first from what I saw probly CCTV anyway not speed cams ill have to get my digi camcorder out and mount it on dash and do some random stuff :cuckoo: :D paulthejambo 22 July 2007, 21:47 From the drive I organised many many months ago: YouTube - Subaru in a tunnel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_0VM0GlyRs) 19 of us went through that night. As CW mentioned, just the occasional Land Rover Discovery with two 6'9" coppers and a pair of large machine guns to watch out for. Or sometimes the local plod will sit inbetween the two tunnels on the crash gate emergency access road and eat their donuts and spill their coffee when a plane takes off. :lol1: Daz1121 03 August 2007, 00:15 Went through those 2 tunnel tonight. First time just had the front windows down and dropped it in to 4th for a little bit of extra noise. Second time had all 4 windows down and in to 3rd, much better sound and had a silly grin on my face afterwards too. doshwrx2007 03 August 2007, 13:38 Went through those 2 tunnel tonight. It just had to be done:thumb: bob r 03 August 2007, 23:03 Be careful in those tunnels as you do get local plod (not the airport plod )awaiting speeding motorists, generally the local rich and arrogant Porsche drivers. Best doing a couple of dry runs first before gunning it. Last time I went through I ended up doing about 10 runs :norty: :lol1: Daz1121 03 August 2007, 23:08 We slowed down between tunnels as Paul already warned us about the plod between the two tunnels. speedymonkey 03 August 2007, 23:34 After the first slow run through to make sure its all clear..... Slow right down to around 20mph and drop into 2nd and then up thought the gears rapideeeoooooo :D Its a sounds sooooo amazing :luvlove: I need to take the missus down there before i sell up, but i dowt she'd be impressed at all :( :lol1: |
