Myself (ex suby owner) and another Suby owner (both NASIOC members) are going to be in London next week, and Milton Keynes starting next Thursday. We are both going to be working at the Silverstone Classic event from Thursday to Sunday, and we desperately need some local advice on travel.

What is the best (cheapest) way to get from MK to Silverstone Thursday through Sunday? We'll need to leave early in the morning, and return later on in the evening. We've been told that the bus is pretty cheap, but the sites I've found are difficult to navigate, and the time zone difference makes it difficult to call over there to talk to a human. That and I have no idea what the region names are, etc.

If we're crazy for trying to go from MK to Silverstone everyday, does anyone have an empty bedroom near Silverstone :D

Can anyone offer up any advice?

Thanks a lot all!

I would stay in Silverstone - buses don't run direct from Milton Keynes. You probably need to get a bus to Towcester and change..

Taxi for approx £20 each way would be an option if you are staying in MK. I doubt that a bus route goes direct, as pointed out, you would probulary have to change at Towcester. What about hiring a cheap rental for the 4 days? bet you could find something for £20 or so a day.

I live in MK so if you need a link to some rental places, let me know & I will try & help.

I called the local bus companies that service that area and you guys were right, there is no direct route from MK to Silverstone. And spending 40 pounds each day for a taxi for four days is A LOT of money on our budget.

We would love to have stayed near silverstone, but a lot of places are booked, and the ones that aren't are absurdly expensive.

We may end up staying at this woman's house near the track. She's the guy who owns the race shop's secretary. It's not the optimal setup, but it will have to work I suppose.

If anyone has any other ideas please post it up, we won't be leaving until this Saturday.
