View Full Version : Washing microfibre cloths, waffle weave towels etc.
P1-Brad 16 July 2007, 15:34 I was hoing to throw my lambsool mitt, microfibre mitt, microfibre cloths and waffle weave towel etc. in the wash together. Question is, how do you wash them, non-bio (??) ... no conditioner (??) ... dry naturally (??).
Any advice gratefully received?
Cheers
Bradders :)
RichardF 16 July 2007, 17:53 Give them to the bride, the rest is up to her:)
They come out fine though to be honest not put the mit through the washing machine, just waffle weave towels and microfibres.
She washes them the normal way and they come out fine.
regards
Richard
scoobyverysoon 16 July 2007, 19:50 Well I wash mine seprate ONLY using a washing non bio liquid and DONT use conditioner
wash mits get washed by hand
waffle weaves washed on there own as sometimes they pick up wax off the microfibres and lose there suction so need to be 60 degree washed again to get the suction back
Rasher 16 July 2007, 21:58 wash your microfibres in 30-40 degrees non bio washing powder, no conditioner, waffle weave towel and lambswool washmit the same:)
good point made by Scoobyverysoon about the waffle weave although mine seems to be getting better with age:)
StickyMicky 17 July 2007, 09:23 lol @ this thread
what i do, hang them up, spray them with multi surface cleaner and jetwash them clean, my mate bought a seperate washing machine just for his cloths, lunatics........
Rasher 17 July 2007, 11:03 by the way there is no need to iron your microfibre cloths. I find that if you do it tends to smooth the microfibres out and they loose their ability to take the wax off, just fold them normally and dont worry about them not having uniform creases in them when they are being stored:)
I put them all in together, haven't had any problems as yet and been doing it for ages.
Always put them in at 30 deg with Fairy non-bio liquid - no conditioner.
Polished Bliss 18 July 2007, 20:53 As above, we wash all of our mitts, towels, applicators and machine pads at 40oC using Fairy Non-Bio, max spin speed 1000rpm, then tumble dry on cool setting for 60 mins. Works a treat, no time for air drying for us, need fresh towels every day! :)
Polished Bliss 18 July 2007, 20:54 Sorry, should add we never tumble dry the lambswool mitts, as they shrink with any kind of heat. These are best left hanging up damp until next use.
Bug Eyed Peas 18 July 2007, 21:16 Also, if they become a bit grubby, pour a very small amount of white vinegar in to the washer drawer prior to washing. This will get rid of any marks and also make them a bit fluffier IIRC :thumb:

1000 rpm
I've been doing mine at 1600 rpm - time for a change methinks.

Aye, I found some of my towels get stretched way out of shape if I spin at higher speeds, and to be honest 1000rpm is fine for microfibres as they hold very little water anyway. :)

Yep, another top tip, I vinegar wash all of my towels 1-2 times per month, as it does keep them a lot softer. Not none of your chip vinegar mind, make sure you use the clear version! :)
mneame 20 July 2007, 12:36 i wash and tumble mine too. the missus does her nut sometimes when i've got the washing machine and the tumble dryer in use for "car stuff" as she puts it :lol1:
