Right then, I have bought some mesh from B&Q and intend to mesh the grill and then area behind the numberplate.

The only reason I am doing this is to protect the air con rad from stones.

The lower section is easy to do and doesnt pose a problem.

Its the grill thats the problem. I thought about cutting out the plastic honeycomb section and then meshing it from the back before respraying the black area.

This leaves a very easy route for anyone wanting to pop the bonnet.

So how have people meshed their OE 99-00 grill?

Put the mesh OVER the plastic honeycomb, held in place with tiny zip-ties or twists of wire depending on colour.
