My Type-R has scratches on both side windows from when its gone up and down, is there a cure to help stop this, and to remove the scratches?

Try a search mate as I`m sure I`ve read something about stuff that jewellers use that done the trick.

Yea, had it mentioned in another thread, just wondered if any of the car care team could offer any other tips.

Usual cause is trapped silt/grit in the rubbers, and the only way to remove this fully will be to dismantle the doors and get to the insides of the rubber strips. It is possible to polish fine scratches out of glass, using jewellers rouge or cerium oxide. This company sell cerium oxide already made up, but it is a wee bit pricey...

You can also buy your own cerium oxide powder for a few pounds from online mineral merchants and make your own paste up, but some trial and error will be required. Either way, machine application will be required, either using a drill attachment or a machine polisher and polishing pad.

I tryed using G10 on it today, quite hard, but im sure i noticed some of it cuming off,
You have mentioned not pressing hard, i was pressing very hard, am i likley to of caused some more dammage???

I have got some proper glass cuting paste, and a mop, im going to try with that, if it dont work, i know somebody with a proper machine that kinda heats the glass up and moves the glass across to cover up the scratches.

Has anybody ever use 1 of these machines?

Really ? mmmmmm this machine i have to see, after 10yrs in the glass trade ive never heard of such a machine that kinda heats the glass up and moves the glass to cover the scratches ? ? ? ? ? ?

I know of a machne that does really heat the glass up and cools it down then heats it up and then cools it down, this is the process by which toughened glass is made.

Jwellers rouge will not get rid of the scratch, all it does it lightens the scratch making it harder to see, plus doesn't always work, it depends on the depth of the scratch.

Ive had many a person come in and ask if we can polish out some scratchs on there table tops, some weve done some we ain't.

The bloke uses the machine on scratches on glass like say on a windscreen of a coach, he showed me a window he done, the glass was scratched with a ring, and its was not possible to view it after unless the light caught it right as it kind of distorts.
Its hard to explaine really, looking at it streight on you cannot notice it
From the side you can tell the glass surface is not true and flat...
