what a blatant lack of respect Lewis suffered from his team mate.....a complete ass in the quali interview.....

Never mind....Lewis is gonna clean up very soon...

Alonso..what a pillock.

Well driven Kimi....tough luck Massa

A good race, which makes a change for poor Silverstone, usually blighted by rain...

I thought it was a poor race. Kimi made no attempt to pass Lewis until two quick laps as he pitted. Lewis then struggled with either bad tyres or set-up and virtually gave up trying until Alonso eventually passed him during the last stop where they all turned the engines down and accepted their positions. It just ain't racing. The 2 race rule on engines is removing what little challenge there was left in this sport with most spending the last 1/3 to 1/2 of every race holding station in fear of any failure affecting the next race. The highlights show may just as well show the start, the stops and whoever crosses the line as nothing else happens. Massa's stall injected a bit into today as he blasted through in a superior car like a Scoob making progress on a motorway full of Micra's. Congratulations to Lewis on another podium, Kimi on a win, but big boos to the rule-makers. Bring back racing, with real drivers !

I watched for the first time in ages to see what all this Lewis Hamilton fuss was about.
For the entire 'race' all the commentators went on about was the driving and the strategies, not once was the word racing used:wonder:

My verdict? Thanks but no thanks Bernie, I've got better things to do with my Sunday afternoons:) I'll stick to MotoGP and SBK in the future:thumb:

PS: This Lewis kid does appear to have what it takes, his car control is exceptional, I'd love to see what he could do in a proper race car;)

Bring back racing, with real drivers

I have heard that they are planning to do away with a lot of the drivers aids for next year, so maybe we will get to see some racing again

I stopped watching tbh when they changed the tyres rule, as the racing was all over after the first few laps, as no-one wanted to damage a tyre

Let's hope they come up with something  My own suggestions would be...

Give them back full slicks so's they have plentiful grip in low speed corners.
Enforce aero restrictions to slow top speeds.
Remove all adjustable mapping of engine management.
Remove traction control.
To preserve engines, set a ceiling on revs, bhp and torque, reducing stress and improving reliability, and controlling top speeds.
Introduce a new points system which still rewards the win, but also rewards overtaking. +1pt for each position gained, -1pt for each lost relative to the qualifying position and disregarding DNF's.

Ive heard traction control is on the way out :thumb:

They are also looking at doing something on the aero side, so they can bring back the goof old fashioned slip stream overtaking, whithout worrying about buggering up the engine cooling etc

They really do need to bring it back to the 70's 80's to make it racing again, but with the safety they have of todays standards, im pretty sure they will get a lot more people watching again :D

I agree with every point, except the one about preserving the engines. They should just get rid of the daft rule about one engine lasting for two races, and impose a fuel limit for the race.
It works for MotoGP, even Ducati rarely have 'electrical failures' these days:D

I meant for my new restrictions to replace that rule. Reduce the stress to make it last rather than penalise if it doesn't.

Well if Max Mosely gets his way F1 will feature 1.4 or 1.5 litre normally aspirated 4 pot cars by 2011.

they are talking about boost limits so i would say they will have a turbo :thumb:

They used to run 1.5 turbo's before, and had over 900bhp :D I seem to recall one peaking at 1400bhp

Ah yeah just read this bit:
Limit engine power by imposing a maximum energy flow rate. There will be few restrictions on the engine cycle, which can include turbo-charging and energy recovery. This could lead to a gain of at least 20% in thermal efficiency.

Oh great, so not content with killing the sport visually they now want to do away with the aural aspect too:rolleyes:

The words Nail, Coffin and Final spring to mind:(

BTW, I do remember the previous turbo F1 era.

Yes, the racing was fantastic, and with the engines being little more than grenades with the pins pulled, every race had the guaranteed added bonus of at least one hurling it's internals in spectacular fashion all over the track.
But my god didn't they sound dull:rolleyes:
With the odd notable exception, 4 stroke four cylinder engines do not sound that nice, especially when they've got a turbocharger strapped to them, damping out any character they may have started with:nono:

Also from what I remember, they cost a damned sight more to build and run than contemporary N/A engines too, which kind of makes a mockery of Max's stated aim of reducing spiralling costs:wonder:

Hmmmmm, BMW three lap specials:D Straight into the bin after qualifying:lol1:

Cylinder blocks destined for the F1 programme would firstly be run for at least 150,000kms in 1602 saloons, in order to stress relieve the castings enough to not explode the first time the turbocharger spooled up:eek:

Didn't I also read that the blocks were left outside as the cold winters tempered the metal, and the workers had a habit of peeing on them during fag breaks  Or did I dream that bit :wonder:

Queue all those cars who are down on position on the last lap suddenly have a "technical fault" and pulling off the road with a DNF.. ;)
