Hi, looking for some advice on what sort of bike to get got my DAS test next week and optimistically hope i will pass.
Like the looks of the sport bikes Honda Cbr etc, don't want to overstretch my abilities for my first bike.

Also I am 6'5" tall so looking for something i won't be too uncomfortable on.

Any advice, suggestions welcome

Thanks

Rob

RobA I wish I could suggest a bike for you but I'm "only" 6ft tall and haven't ever owned anything I would say was roomy.
Best advice I could give you is to get a ride on anything you like the look of and then decide. Maybe a traillie?

When I was much much younger living in Brighton there was a lad who must've been 6ft 6 or even taller. Skinny as a beanpole who was constantly draped all over his RD250LC, arms and legs like an octopus as he hoiked wheelie after wheelie inbetween engine rebuilds.

Sean was his name. Mad as a ??????????????????
Surely someone from Brighton must remember him on here.
Don't get a RD250LC (old now). Not a good look.

Try a traillie style bike. Don't let people convince you that you have to get the latest hyperbike. Whatever you do, just take it easy and don't think you have to get your knee down to be cool.
Cool don't mean jack when you've overestimated your abilities and you're hobbling around with pins in your leg. Do yourself a favour and don't believe all the BS around bikes.
You seem like a sensible chap.
Bikes are mega fun. Ride carefully and make sure you're around long enough to enjoy them.

It must be about body shapes too, I'm just shy of 6' and when I tried an R6 it nearly crippled me, I found my mates 600 Gixxer far more comfortable, well as comfy as a crotch rocket gets;)

Olly, who posts on here got himself a Kawa ER-6N at the beginning of the year. PM him see what he reckons. I had a go on it myself, and really liked it:thumb:
It did seem like a good bike for learning wheelies and stuff on too:D

everyone is different , and yamahas deffo suit me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if your after something more upright and comfy itssssssssss gotta be the honda hornet . good for learning roadcraft on , and when you want more knee downs and wheelies a plenty :thumb: .
p.s. dont even consider a cb500 , as there used for trainees and noobies , and are quite possibly the most demorilising bike you could ride { not to mention the gay stunters bike of choice / apparently !!!!!! } :Whatever_

Thanks again guys, definately giving me a few ideas of what to look into. From what everybody says best approach seems to go and sit on a few and see how it feels, which sounds like fun

i just passed das monday and im 6'8 and struggle with everything clothes beds cars the lot. i have got myself a zxr750 and its relly not that bad for tall people. stay away from r6 or r1 there monkey bikes compared to us.. if not how about tdm or the like?. i tried loads of bikes but cos of my hight i kept finding them uncumfy. the zxr750 is really the best 1 for me. baring in mind i only have a 33-34 inside leg but a long body. my only other advice is sit on the bike and see how it feels although this wont tell you if your wrists ate going to ache afterv an hour or 2.. good luck with your test mate just remember those lifesavers and you'l be fine. a little hint on the emergency stop only use the front brake. i locked the wheel up on my first test but second try easy only 2 minors....and just with the front brake
