Interested in opinions.. long time playstation owner (1, 2), and fond of GT4, McRae, WRC, GTA, splinter cell and the like...

Forza seems ok, but do I take the cheap option and get a 360, or bite the bullet and get the PS3?

 

360 - Its not the cheap option, its the sensible option

 

At the moment you'd have say the 360 by a mile. The games just aren't out there for the PS3 at the moment. Get a 360 now, then get a PS3 after Christmas.

Colin McRae is on 360, GTA IV will be on 360, Splinter Cell is on 360, Forza is superb. Nobody currenly has the WRC licence. No brainer. Jump In

 

What really grieves me is that MS are doing NOTHING to capitalise on the massive advantages the 360 has over the PS3 at this time.
If it were the other way round, I'm sure Sony would have been hammering the nails into the MS coffin like it was going out of fashion!

 

In what way? price cut?

Has to be a 360 if you're buying now. you only have to look at his forum to see which gets discussed daily due to the good games available compared to the PS3 which never gets a mention.

No not a price cut, advertising advertising and erm, advertising.
There are loads of great and exclusive titles are here on the 360 this year and they're just not letting people know.

For instance, who knows that Shadowrun has been released? It's got a massive card game/comic following, you can play against Vista players as well. Nothing, even the demo was released only 2 days before the game came out. Same as for Forza 2. Apart from a few 10 second TV ads I've not seen much in the way of advertising. Not everyone wants to pay £5 for a Xbox mag every month etc.

 

And Xbox 360.

 

Fair point. I guess as I'm aware of what's going on then I don't take heed of that side. I bet sales are slow this time of year so they'll save it until Halo 3 and maybe a price drop as well then hammer the ads before Xmas.

 

MS have lost out with their lack of advertising, sony have it sussed. Go into shops/ hdtv hifi etc mags and its all about the wonderous possibilities of the ps3. 'the ps3 will be able to do 1080 when it comes out'...@....@@.. wheres the mention of the 360 which can do it now and has been for some time...Im sure MS have lost that years advertising advantage....

 

you've fallen into the trap I did... that's people who know that they're looking for and read up on it. The average joe knows **** all and will buy the one with the best looking games and best price for them.

 

Think i will be buying it for the PS3 since there is no active Live feature on the 360 version.

At least i will have one decent title for the PSdoorstop when the other half takes over the 360 for her Lord of the Rings game

 

I personally dont watch much tv as its mostly ****e but shadowrun was / currently is advertisted on your console thru microsofts subliminal advertisting when you connect to live

I think most gamers would also use sites like GameSpot:Video Games PC PlayStation 2 Xbox 360 Wii PS3 GameCube PSP DS GBA PS2 PlayStation 3 to see up and coming releases

 

At this stage the PS3 is purely for fanboys, the 360 is a no brainer. This may/will change but at least a year away.

 

But neither does the PS3 version. Personally I think the online mode that they have included will work pretty well, similar to real rallying where you don't have multiple cars on the track, rather a comparison of stage times. But I agree, some kind of simultaneous multiplayer would have been nice.

Hmm. Fairly overwhelming vote then! Still can't help thinking about GT5 and drooling. Only played the downloadable forza2 demo so far, didn't seem all that, but maybe it needs another try

 

The Forza 2 demo i think wasn't the best as it only gave you 1 course (a couple would have been nice) the actual game is a lot better imo.
By the time GT5 is out the PS3 price will most probably have dropped so you could have both.

 

I got both, the 360 gets played (games) and the PS3 gets watched (dvd's).

 

The Gran Turismo series needs to get some credibility back after going a little stale over the years. Lets hope they get their fingers out for GT5, with good online play and proper collision damage.

 

Sure GT5 will be class. It's just when will it be out? forza 3 may well be along by that time going on past experiences.

 

Get a 360 now, and then a PS3 when that has overheated

 

On the collision damage front how do you think they are going to impliment it. Some of the things that have been speculated is that you can turn it off or it won`t be as nasty in the lower races. But if you leave it on in what would of been IA or Special licence races, hitting a wall at 200mph will mean end of race and massive bill to repair the car. Some thing else been spouted is if you do have a really big shunt in your car, You will only be able to repair it perfectly a couple of times to new.

I think this will bring whole new levels of realism to the game. As long as they sort out the god awefull AI of the computer competitors.

Forza2 is really good and I managed to get a copy of McRae DIRT today, that`s great too

No but i own a PS3 and do enjoy an episode of Cagney and Lacey
