Hi Guys

I have been using the Picture Perfect software to extract my photos from the camera to the pc, what I have noticed is all the pictures seem to have a red hue on them and the depth of colour is frankly pretty rubbish, they looked no better than shots I had taken with my old Ixus III.

So as a test I copied the file from the camera onto desktop, avioding Picture Perfect and all of a sudden i'm looking at great pictures with lovely depth of colour, no red huethe only down side is the pics are huge (3.2mb).

1: what am "I" doing wrong in PP or is it just a cheap programme from which I shouldn't expect too much.

2: If I just copy into My Pics from the camera how do I then compress the pics to a size where I can post in here and also attach to an e-mail without crashing the server, I have a piccy I want to enter into this months compo, but its a little bity too big, clearly I'm no computer expert, I can get by.....

Any advice greatfully received
Cheers
Dave

try downloading Picasa2 from Google. It's ideal for beginners and has rudimentary image tweaking facilities. Its free, but pretty good.

Download Nikon View/Nikon Editor, much better piece of software/RAW convertor. Nikon Capture is great too but not free. I've tried lots of other RAW convertors but not found any as good as Editor/Capture.
