Hi i'm new to subaru ownership, so hi all!

I'm a soilder living in Germany and live a hour up the road from the 'Ring'!! and I'm in real need of better brakes!

So who has the Godspeed 335mm kit and wot do u think! I use the car mostly for trashing hard and need good brakes! as the ring is hard on them!

I currently have red stuff pads and groved disks with braided lines! but need more!

help me please! lol

 

I have the 335 kit, and i find it more than adequate for my useage, it is however on the budget end of 'better brakes' absolutely nothing wrong with it at-all, but if you're gonna be pushing hard at the ring, then surely really good brakes are the first consideration...... if i were in your position, i'd have AP 6pots.....

 

Cheaper that APs but still pretty indestructible is the K-sport kit from Apex performance. £1000 but worth every penny. It should be VAT free for you which will take it down to sub £900 at which point it is magnificent value. Comes with DS2500 which are better than red stuffs.

Gold Brembos all the way OE quality nuff said, plus you will always be able to get spares.

 

I did a brief report on a previous post, otherwise there may be something in next edition of True Grip.

 

I have the Godspeed 335 kit with the DS2500's & am very happy but only use for normal road use & not been on a track. Certainly much much better than the standard kit I had before.

 

Those combined with the Performance Friction discs and pads are quite possibly the best combination going.

 

i looking to know how the godspeed performs on the track! is it a small improvement or a large improvement over standard setup!

 

The brembo setup will be better all round and a good amount cheaper.

 

Brembos are one piece discs and will definitely wilt at the Ring. In conjunction with PF kit the calipers should be very good. Godspeeds should be better in theory than the one-piece although mine warped quite badly after 5 laps.

 

The Ring isn't hard on brakes due to it's sheer size and length between the 'few' really heavy braking points..!

So unless you use other, more traditional, tighter circuits then you should get away with a fast road setup..

 

Gregory, as i said earlier, i have the 335 kit, what i forgot to mention is that i have used them very hard on track, on small-ish tracks with many braking points, along with the ferodo ds2500 pads i find my brakes more than up to what i ask of them, DO NOT GET DRILLED DISCS however, as they WILL crack..... get grooved only.......
Also worth getting the rears pads to match the front, it helps to balance things out somewhat......

My brakes were toast after 5 laps. The Ring is hard on everything and extremely unforgiving, especially if you dont have the right kit.

 

I had the Godspeeds and they were both drilled and vented but they are really thick discs and did not mind many laps of the Prodrive track without any fade at all. My vote is still with the K sport and I have owned standard, Godspeed 335s, STi Brembos and the K sports.
