So wheres Alonso now eh?

i reckon it might be worth a few quid on Hamilton to take the season's 1st place

looking real good this afternoon, for some reason Alonso wasnt very happy.

Just goes to show, IMO he was good when he had a fast car behind him, now i dont think hes as good as the rookie hes racing along side....

thoughts????

Grats to Massa, he was clearly the quickest guy!

But to be honest, it was a boring race apart from a few incedents in the pits. I really dont understand why they changed the track though, it didnt create any more overtaking opportunities than before, its just a bit mickey mouse now instead of being a cracking set of high speed corners it was before. If its the name of safety, why? theres plenty of run off... they may aswell wrap the drivers up in cotton wool nowadays!!

Instead of butchering every track up to help aid overtaking, why not tackle the overtaking problem that has existed for so long, the problem of dirty air, stop allowing all these fancy wings all over the car and ensure the air that flows off the back of the air is clean allowing slip streaming.

So Alonso, suddenly he's crap just because he was beaten by his team mate, bit early to say really but I still think Alonso has the edge... only time will tell. Still think the championship battle will come down to Alonso and Raikonnen.

i didnt ever rate Alonso, he is a boring driver, lack that drive that you seen in senna, schumy and mansell, hes just a boring character IMO, he won when he had the fastest car. The only thing i think he has over Hamilton, is experience, and TBH, i think that will be it, Hamilton has that same drive button had, i only hope he has the skill and the chance to carry it through to future world titles

and as far as Massa's concerned, i think its 50/50 btween them too, personaly, i think massa has the edge

Assuming the McLarens and Ferraris are equal (big assumption!) and it's down to the drivers, I think it will be between Massa and Hamilton at the end of the year. In other words, a reversal of expectations only a few weeks ago.

My money is on Hamilton, because we know he has the talent (and several seasons of expereince and success in single-seaters). But he also has the temperament. He can take the inevitable knocks - he's had plenty over the years that everybody seems to have forgotten about now - and they just make him more determined to learn and focus harder. He has an extraordinary character.

On the other hand, Massa has typical Latin up/down character and both Alonso and Kimmi are prone to moody strops which sometimes end in a poor (slow) drive or a foolish error. Right now, after Spain, I bet both Alonso and Kimmi have thrown a tantrum and will be ranting and moaning about the cars right until the Monaco lights go out.

But Hamilton and Massa will go to Monaco qualifying with optimum mind-set. And we all know the pole-man wins there.

It's going to be interesting :)

Richard.

PS Sorry to ramble, but I'm a bit of a Hamilton fan :D

i was that convinced in hamilton i put a wager on it and also for him to win his first race in silverstone.

hamilton will win by a mile, hes always scoring points and the massa, alonso of the world take a win and then take a 3rd or 4th

where as lewis is constantly on the podeum !

i dont support any of the teams/drivers but you can clearly see that lewis is an awesome driver along with alonso

mcclaren will take constructors championship too.

Alonso only won because he had the fastest car? Don't think so! You should read what some of the experts say on the fastest car - last year and this!

Onto Spain - if Alonso's bold attempt hadn't been ended by Massa driving into the side of him, it would have been an outstanding pass and would have certainly given him 2nd at worst(he was ahead going into the corner). Ferrari don't get my vote, they are sore losers, known cheaters and if they ain't winning it's a greetin' match.

Kimi must be sick as a pig - he's another Webber - whereever he goes the motors just let go. Hamilton on the other hand can do no wrong - the guy appears to be so down to earth and appreciative of the fact that he is living his dream - he really is a kid in a sweet shop. Or a Scoobynetter in Scoobyworld trolley dash!

At least the points are close, but that race was as boring as - there is no way they should be allowed to test at circuits they will race on soon afterwards!

You must have been watching a different race.

Alonso had no business trying to do what he did.
Massa had the line into the corner and there was plainly no room for Alonso. Massa simply held his line leaving nowhere for Alonso to go except into the gravel.

Watching a different race?

If Massa was in the right, then why did he have an imprint of Alonso's rear tyre on his sidepod? Just a normal corner for Massa, heading for the scenery and used Alonso to bounce back on!

Anyway a racing incident it was - but Massa's still a wee fud!:lol1:

Alonso again got a better start than Massa in Barcelona and went to the outside at turn one, but Massa steadfastly held the inside line and the two cars banged wheels.

While Massa was able to continue in the lead and proceeded to dominate the race, Alonso went across the gravel and picked up aerodynamic damage that hampered the rest of his race.

"It was a little tight for both of us," Massa admitted.

"It was quite a risk for both of us, but the first corner is important."

"I just didn't want to lose like I lost in Malaysia."

"I was inside, so I just tried to stay there."

"Fernando was trying to push me to the inside and we just touched each other."

"Alonso's first corner move was a gamble that totally backfired, leaving him with a damaged car and a mountain to climb."

Anyway, as you say - racing incident.
