View Full Version : ECU fault codes cogin 10 May 2007, 18:36 just changed the back box and have now got a couple of faults on the ecu, 45 and 23, presure sensor and MAF, do i try an ecu reset or stick the std box back on?? cogin 10 May 2007, 20:06 had a moment there when i thought id got it, nope, runs fine when cold with CEL on and above faults, when hot will tick over roughly, going between 600 and 1100 rpm but cant drive with revs over 4000, unplug MAF when running, no change!!! Its Knakered aint it.:wonder: wrxgreen 10 May 2007, 20:08 i can see how changing just the back box causing a ecu fault like that cogin 10 May 2007, 20:11 would it cause it or just hilight an existing one, the CEL was'nt on when i started!! DannyBoy007 10 May 2007, 20:41 it's gone into limp mode, I wouldn't drive it, I can't see changing the back box would of changed a great deal, as said it might of just highlighted the fact it was knackered maf in the first place. Disconnect the battery, this will clear all of the codes, and then do a diginostic, this will show current fault codes. Have a a chat with David at API, He'll be able to sort you out and answer any question you have, there isn't anything about these cars he doesn't know and he'll ship the goods for next day delivery pippyrips 10 May 2007, 21:03 agree with Danny - the backbox and cel light happening at the same time is more than likey coincidence. Sounds more like an underlying problem unfortunately cogin 10 May 2007, 21:30 Oh well, why must i fiddle, thanks guys cogin 11 May 2007, 07:48 ok, action plan, i've disconected the battery, gonna put std b/box back on the car, then we will see what fault codes we've got, then phone David at API, I am so far into the dog house that even the dog won't look me in the eye!! Should have left alone, then the car would have broke down on the way to the airport, at least it would not have been my fault:mad: turboDean 11 May 2007, 08:20 List of fault Codes from the PSI3 manual: DIGIT NON EOBD FAULT CODES NOTE: Some codes are duplicated and therefore have multiple meanings 24 Idle Control System Malfunction 23 Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit 22 Knock Sensor 21 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 18 Electrical Load Signal 13 Camshaft Position Sensor 12 Starter Signal 11 Crankshaft Position Sensor 37 Rear O2 Sensor Circuit / A/F Sensor Circuit Malfunction 35 CPC System 33 Vehicle Speed Sensor 32 Oxygen Sensor 31 Throttle Position Sensor Circuit 29 Crankshaft Position Sensor 2 28 Knock Sensor #2 26 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 45 Pressure Sensor 44 Turbocharging Pressure Control Signal 43 Accelerator Pedal Switch 42 Idle Switch 39 Traction Control System 38 Torque Permission Signal 38 Torque Control Signal #2 38 Torque Control Signal #1 62 Exhaust Manifold Valve Negative Pressure Control Solenoid 61 Air Suction Control Solenoid Valve 56 EGR System 55 EGR Valve Lift Sensor 54 Air Intake System 51 Neutral Position Switch 49 CO Resistor 48 Lean Burn System 53 Anti-Quick Operation Mode 66 Twin Turbocharger System(T) 66 Twin Turbocharger System(S) 66 Twin Turbocharger System(H) 66 Two Stage Twin Turbocharger System 65 Differential Pressure Sensor 64 Relief Valve Control Solenoid Valve 1 64 Relief Valve Control Solenoid Valve 2 53 IMM Control Module EEPROM 53 EGI Control Module EEPROM 53 Use of Unregistered Key 53 Key Communication Failure 53 Communication Error (Time Over) 53 IMM Circuit Failure (Except Antenna Circuit) 53 Reference Code Incompatibility 53 Antenna 89 VVT Systems (R) 88 Fuel Pump Circuit Malfunction 87 Variable Induction Solenoid Valve Circuit Malfunction 86 CAN (Communication System) 85 Charger System Circuit Malfunction 81 Torque Up Control Valve 68 Turbocharging Pressure Control Output Signal #2 67 Exhaust Manifold Valve Positive Pressure Control Solenoid 89 VVT Systems (L) 24 ISC Valve (Stick) 24 Open/Short in ISC Valve Circuit 32 A/F Sensor #2 System 32 A/F Sensor #1 System 92 Electrical Generation Control Signal Circuit Malfunction 91 TCS Relief Valve 71 Shift Solenoid Valve 72 Shift Solenoid #2 Circuit 73 Low Clutch Timing Solenoid Circuit 74 Brake Clutch Timing Solenoid Circuit Malfunction 77 Lock-Up Duty Solenoid Circuit 75 Line Pressure Duty Solenoid Circuit 76 Brake Clutch Pressure Duty Solenoid Circuit Malfunction 79 Transfer Clutch Duty Solenoid Circuit 93 Vehicle Speed Sensor #1 Circuit 27 ATF Temperature Sensor Circuit 94 Lateral G Sensor Signal Circuit Malfunction 11 Engine Speed Signal Circuit 38 Torque Control Signal System 36 Turbine Speed Signal 78 Tiptronic Solenoid System cogin 11 May 2007, 08:36 Thats what i thought, bugger!! Got the std b/box on, just waiting now for the ecu to forget the error codes, i'm hoping that the air flow through the MAF with the Magnex box was too much for it and it MIGHT be ok on the std one:wonder: , every things crossed. I will let you know after 9. turboDean 11 May 2007, 08:48 Thats what i thought, bugger!! I will let you know after 9. Can't see a B/B effecting the MAF reading at all :(, even a full straight through exhaust with no cats shouldn't have any effect on the MAF. It's generally induction kits that kill MAF sensors. But Good Luck :thumb: DAZZY J 11 May 2007, 09:02 If it's a Version V then quite likely to be MAF sensor. I would get it sorted straight away. Speaking from experience as I'm still in the middle of a rebuild costing over 4K on parts alone at the moment. You will do some serious damage if your MAF sensor is playing up. I think they are about £70 + VAT at Roger CLarke Motorsport. They also recommend changing the oxygen sensor at same time. Good Luck. pippyrips 11 May 2007, 09:21 i would leave the b/b on - it won't be causing the cel light cogin 11 May 2007, 10:02 all ready changed back to the std box, can't be arsed to change it again!! Got it running with the MAF disconected, it won't run more than 20 seconds with it pluged in!! But with it pluged in theres no fault codes, WTF. turboDean 11 May 2007, 10:09 all ready changed back to the std box, can't be arsed to change it again!! Got it running with the MAF disconected, it won't run more than 20 seconds with it pluged in!! But with it pluged in theres no fault codes, WTF. Apparantly it is quite usual for the MAF to die and not cause any fault codes. Sounds like it F**k*D to me, noticed on your "view my scooby" it's a 93 WRX, think the MAFs for early cars are quite expensive (£200+) from the dealer. So your best bet would probably be someone like Grade A: Welcome Page (http://www.gradea-subaru.co.uk/) cogin 11 May 2007, 12:51 API didn't have one:cry: Import car parts do £230:eek2: Just spoken to grade A they have one and are sending it out:thumb: , fingers crossed that it gets here tomorow, i need the car to drive to the airport on Sunday, if i can get it fixed i might be allowed out of the dog house:lol1: Thanks for all the help hope to see you at one of the meets soon. cogin 12 May 2007, 08:29 Good news The MAF turned up at 7:25 and was duly fitted, car now running better that i every rember, the old MAF must have been on its way out for a while now, the idle is so much smother thather than all over the shop like before. Thanks all for helping narow down the fault, and a big thanks to Grade A for getting me the parts nice and quick, saved my bacon:thumb: turboDean 12 May 2007, 09:08 Good news The MAF turned up at 7:25 and was duly fitted, car now running better that i every rember, the old MAF must have been on its way out for a while now, the idle is so much smother thather than all over the shop like before. And when you get home, stick the back box back on and release the burble |
