As can be seem from the piccies, my wall had some serious damage, so I'm replacing it with some vertical fencing :)

As the floor is on an incline, will I have to taper the fence panels?
Bought 7ft concrete posts for 5 ft of fence.....
Thoughts?

website went fubar :D

I would use aris rail and featherboard fencing, 3m spans, fix a v-notch wall plate on the pillar, and one against the garage wall, couple of v-notch posts evenly spaced, bang on the aris rails, 6in gravel boards following the incline, then featherboard following the gravelboards/aris rails. (this is of course a basic 'how-to' and it is infact a little more involved than that!)
result = dead straight fence, perfectly following the incline, no posts/structure viewable from the face side. approx cost of £200 in timber, half a days work for a pro, would take a good DIYer a day :)

Nice one POC :)
Thought about that type of thing, but really need concrete posts, as despite the serene neighbourhood, there's a nasty crosswind on that wall.
I would expect that wood would't last very long :)
But I get what you're saying though, and thanks for responding :)

Are you going to use panels - my dad has concrete posts and panels and the panels always bend and pop out during windy days. The frame of the panel will become your point of failure even if the posts are strong?
I used posts and rails, dug out to a 2ft depth and concreted in - its pretty solid.

Why not just rebuild/get someone to rebuild the wall? Brick walls are far more maintenance free than wooden fences....

Had looked at the rebuild option, but she who must be obeyed wants fence :D
That, my friends, is that! ;)

How about a compromise?
Rebuild the wall and then run trellis across the top? At my last house I did this and it looked nice (got the good quality curved trellis). It was quite strong too with posts bolted to the wall...

I'm actually trying to grass the drive - all that bl00dy gravel keeps getting in the way :D
