Has anybody tried extending the range on their OE Sigma alarms?

My bugeye could do with being able to arm/un-arm with me that bit further away.

There must be an aerial located somewhere (normally in the form of a single wire)?

Anybody done this or have an experiences?

The receiver antenna is a short length of black wire dangling from the plug that goes into the control unit. In theory it would increase the range if you arranged it to stick straight up rather than dangle (oo-er!).

Sigma originally designed the M30 alarm to operate with a separate fob, which is quite a chunky unit with 2 batteries in. In order to get the same electronics into a key-sized unit for Subaru they redesigned it to be lower voltage and it uses just the one battery. This can't have helped the range. Sigma M30 fobs turn up on fleaby quite regularly for £10-£20 and can be easily programmed to any alarm. Of course that means that you need to carry a separate fob on your keyring...

I do have a separate (Subaru branded) Sigma key fob anyway, this uses 2, 3 volt batteries. Therefore I don't see this to be the problem.

Reference the dangling Ariel wire, has anybody tried adding more wire (via a vampire clip or similar) and do you think this would help to improve the range? I think it might :idea:

More Importantly where is the control unit (no doubt on the back of the siren) located within the engine bay :confused:
