Anyone got one?

thinking of getting a new bike soon, I havent seen the new speed triple in the flesh and am just wondering what they are like? they look mean enough, any other similar bikes I should be thinking of, I had a z1000 a couple of years ago and just prefer this type of machine,
just to add that I'm a short ass, 5"7, and I'll need to be able to touch the floor :)

cheers

Get last weeks MCN they did a big test of unfaired bikes, the Triumph came out best ........................

Let me know if you cant find one (as the new issue is out today) and I can send you mine.

Taffy,

I had one for a day whilst my GSXR was in for a service. They're a cracking piece of kit. I'd really like one as a second bike, but can't really justify one at the moment. I found that the handling was very tidy and the riding position was great. For me, at 6ft3, it's a little cramped, but not bad enough to be a deal breaker.

The only thing that annoyed me was the braided brake line over the mudguard kept popping out of the plastic retaining clip. Too many wheelies I suspect. The only other thing that you definitely require is a pair of open cans to enjoy the fabulous triple noise! :)

Overall, I'd recommend it. Have heard that the Z1000 is also a great bike.

Cheers
Matt

Taffy,

I've just got back from having a test ride on one earlier today... Can't decide between it and the Superduke. But the Triumph...

A cracking bike as Matt says. Engine has plenty of grunt from low down and is silky smooth, while the handling / steering is super quick at lower speeds but remarkably stable at higher speeds. The front did start to weave and feel a bit light at around the 120mph mark.... not that you'd want to sit at that speed over a long distance mind. I didn't think the wind blast was too bad up to about a ton. The brakes, as I'm led to believe on most Triumphs, were very strong. I'm 5ft10 and I found the riding position and comfort not bad at all.

Book a test ride on one... you won't be disappointed. I've just got to decide whether I liked it more than the Superduke. Decisions, decisions!

Steve :)

Thanks all for the positive replys,

what will the triumph race cans be like?
or would aftermarket ones be a better option?

R32,I'll have a look for mcn tomorrow, cheers

Matt, I've had a z1000 before, it was a very good bike but it didnt really feel that special, if you know what I mean. (I'm hoping the new bike will be a long term toy)

Steve, I'm built like a conker so I just carve through wind resistance , like a hot knive through butter :)

No it wasn't... down in Dorset. The bike was from 3 Cross Motorcycles, a mean green one!

With regards to the race cans, 3 Cross have one in their showroom which has an Arrow race can fitted, which is stamped by Triumph, and is along the lines of a "stubby" motogp style exhaust. Does away with the rear underseat pipes, which I think is a good thing looks wise. Oh... and it sounds the bollox!

well, I went to the dealers (triumph) today just to have look, they had a special edition matt black one, it looked very mean indeed, had a sit on it etc, it wasnt very comfy, a bit like a sports seat with a more upright seating position, but I'm sure it would feel better on the road :)

I dont really want to stump up the £7799 list price for a new one and then £££'s more on a new exhaust and bits and bobs,

I will keep an eye out for second hand one with the right bits allready done, will let you know when I find one :)

ps, also seen a superduke today aswell, very funky looking bike :)
