Hats of, the kid looks a star already. It's just the sport that needs shaking up. I used to be an F1 die-hard, watching every race even the overnighters, but unless they find a way to reintroduce wheel-to-wheel racing then Hamilton will never be revered amongst the F1 greats. The modern race is just too dull. I favour aero and gearing regulations to reduce top speeds but give them full slicks back to give them slow corner adhesion to try and reintroduce late-braking banzaii moves. Maybe they could also introduce sprinklers to ensure a wet section to every race even when the forecast is dry, 'cos we all know how the wet shakes things up.

This is so true Bernie has turned this sport in to money and he is making all of it I to used to stay up all night and watch all the races have traveled and gone to 10 in the last 3 years it is no where near as good as it used to be but ferrari might be in for it this year Also look at Massa he gets half of what rikanin gets and he his out doing him in almost every race Hats off to Hamilton bring the championship back to BRITIAN:notworthy :notworthy Hats of, the kid looks a star already. When they bring wheel to wheel racing back, my viewing will return. Until that happens I just don't care.

I have heard rumours that they are thinking seriously about removing the aerodynamic aids so dirty air is reduced allowing cars to get close to one another. It simply is not a race at the moment.

Didnt Bernie hint to evening/night racing (unsure how that will work with F1)

Believe he wants the eastern races i.e. Bahrain to run in the evenings so we here in europe can watch it at decent times of the day..

Cant wait til they get rid of traction control tho':thumb:

Definetly good to see British talent back in the game, but I echo earlier comments and won't watch a full race until they start racing proper again. I'm a car driver at heart but when it comes to live motorsport, all my attention goes to the two wheeled variety. There might not be much British talent in Moto GP yet (A few kids are working they're way through the 125's), but James Toseland is doing well in World Superbikes. And a quote from the last qualifying session for Moto GP:-

"At the conclusion of the Jerez hour, just 0.325secs separated pole sitter Dani Pedrosa from tenth placed Kenny Roberts Jr.

The top four riders were covered by just 0.084secs, while the top 15 were all within one second of pole. In total, 1.817secs separated Pedrosa from last placed qualifier Sylvain Guintoli."

Now that's racing!!

The guy is simply suberb. So polished, yet so cool, at such a young age.

Yep he is certainly a great driver with natural talent and no doubt a future world champion.

However, no doubt the good old British public/tabloids will probably shoot him down in a ball of flames when he makes his first "mistake" or has his first off.

Hope this isn't the case though, good luck to him.

He really is a great talent, although I'm fed up of the constant hero worship ITV give him (namely that t**t James Allen).

Was really impressed with DC (for a change!). Coming from 21st to 7th before a driveshaft failure. Least we got to see some overtaking this time!

I don't think it's fair to compare the performance of Hamilton with Button since they are in very different cars. While I agree Hamilton does look like a potential champ, would we be saying the same if he was in a Honda, or if Button was driving a Merc?

He is now LEADING the Driver's Championship!!

Remarkable - four podiums in four starts and the youngest ever driver to lead the Championship.

Well done :D

I totally agree, they constantly harp on Lewis this, Lewis that, Lewis something else.

FFS give it a rest.

The media are the same building him up, but just wait until he makes his first decent error - the media will soon knock him back down again liek they've alway done with all other sporting personalities.

Shaun, FFS why don't YOU give it a rest? Moan, moan, moan.

What would you have them harp on about then? The most exciting new F1 driver ever seen, who is also British, or maybe you'd prefer an in-depth analysis of how crap that new Honda is, or why Coulthard has more grey hair every week?

Come on, give Lewis the credit he deserves. And get ready to celebrate his first F1 win at Monaco yer miserable git :)

i follow f1 with a passion and i was that convinced in jan 07 in lewis hamilton winning the 2007 championship i place a large bet on him, and also his first win to be in uk silverstone.

david coulthard and jenson button are 'world class' drivers and if they were put into a ferrari or a mercedes they would be in the top 5 every race !

just my two penneth werth.

Very talented young man and very mature at the same time. A good driver will complement a good car and I think Button would be there if he had the car underneath him.

I think F1 one should loose the TC, semi auto box's and paddle shift. Lets have proper accelerators and and a proper gear shift, lets go back to basics.

Bike racing is where its at though.

No doubt Lewis has done a great job, but he's been lucky too - he's in the best or at least second best car on the grid so his performances show a lot more than if McLaren were a mid-field team.

I thought Rosberg did a superb job last year in his first few races, but after that the car become unreliable and he probably lost motivation.

Lewis hasnt put a foot wrong so far, but if McLaren slip back down the grid and he starts missing podiums and having to try harder to get a lower result he may get frustrated and make mistakes.

Only time will tell I guess - makes for a great F1 season! I cant wait to see Lewis in a fight for position with Kimi,Alonso or Massa!

Edit: Damn good effort by DC as well in Spain! Red Bull could be the dark horse package this season!

Can't sorry.

Yes, certainly credit where credit's due by all means and he's doing well so far.
But I'm sorry, the press and ITV commentators are always always harping on.
If and when he makes a few mistakes, they'll rip him to shreads, because thats what they do.
Remember when Button's first mistake early on when he failed to see the field slowing because of the safety car?

Winning his first GP on Monaco - I don't think so.
I don't believe he'll get his first win here, infact I reckon he'll stick it in a barrier during this race.

Ahh but Shaun, you obviously didn't hear the ITV commentators saying that Lewis has NEVER lost there, he's 100% going to win! (or collide with someone and go out on the 1st lap)....

A born racer, though there maybe a touch of arrogance stepping in, I hope not.

Let's hope the Brit's/our expectation of him doesn't impact upon him like our expectation of Jenson

Good luck to Lewis, he's defo a name to bring the UK into the headlines of F1 again
