As above, just ordered one as reviews I have read appear to be in the main positive, and I need a decent camera for my upcoming holidays.

recieved it this morning and first few shots on auto are decent quality. As a total newb when it comes to cameras though its going to take a lot of experimenting with it (and also learning about all the tech aspects like focus and iso and.....)

Just got to read the 170 page manual I suppose!

The easiest way is to experiment, maybe with a still life object so you can test different settings and see what the difference is and compare the pictures side by side.

cheers guys, I have read the above feature sticky and it was indeed useful, its just a matter of working out the controls on the camera as they can change depending on what setting its on. I have taken some decent shots of my dog last night (I think they are decent anyway!!) will post them up later along with the settings on them. Any advice on them would be appreciated
