I want to send sharpened knives through the postal system and want something to put over the blades for safety reasons.

Now I am sure there is some DIY product, not for knives, but that will do the job. Some sort of edging strip (white plastic or rubberised perhaps) that I can cut to length and just slip over the blade. I am going to have a wander round B&Q or Wickes to get some bright ideas but does anything spring to mind?

Closest I've got so far is using "Slide Binders" which clip A4 papers together. thanks, david

what about some fuel hose, slice don the centre and use that, or loads of bubble wrap firstly around the blade and then around everything else

Wrap them in bended cardboard tightly, add some bubble wrap round then put them in a suitable long box...and post them..

Foam insulation usually used for 15mm copper water pipes and a bit of tape and cardboard.

A knife block ?

Maybe a bit heavey though ?

Could put them in a tin pencil case (school pencil case) dependant on size - suitably packed on the inside.......

Thanks chaps. I'll be using that self-sealing corrugated cardboard for the outer packing which I have now found is available in 5 m rolls at Staples which is useful (before I could only find 99 m rolls!!).

Just need something for the inside around the edges.

Cheers, d

I was going to suggest a cabbage or large potato, but I see you have found your solution now :D

Depending on the size of the blade, what about either conduit, or small waste pipe......??
