I've done 14,500 miles so far on the original pads on my 2004 R6, it was not mentioned as something that needed to be done at the last service.

I ride a lot in town and get through a set of rear pads in around 6000 miles, with fronts usually lasting about 8000.
But then I tend to do several trackdays and brake like I mean it ;)
Oh, that's on a Gixxer 750...

Rear brake gets a hammering in town as I use it for stability when I'm filtering...and I filter a lot.
Don't use it so much on the track but that's relative - it still gets a lot (relatively) of use.
