Can anyone quickly answer how the D80 reacts to various 4GB cards?

The manual I have says it is OK with SanDisk, but not Toshiba or Panasonic. Doubtless since it was written, many more have appeared on the market.

My cheapie shop doesn't have any 4GB SanDisk in stock. So I may buy one on holiday (Japan) but don't know the brands possible, and usually they're in blister packs so I can't check.

If you can let me know if I need firmware updating, or if all is likely to be hunky dory, that would be kind :)

I would suspect that it will be fine. But in all honesty I'd never use a 4GB card. That's just far too many eggs in one basket. Much better to have 2 x 2Gb cards in my opinion.

Agree with John. Much safer to spread the risk in case the worst happens.
