Just come back from having the 7500 mile service done on my car at Bell & Colvill and I have never felt so ripped off in my life!!

As most of you are probably aware the 7500 mile service is a simple Oil and Filter change so how the hell did they come up with £142.61. I could do this job myself in ten minutes but thought I would take my car to a main dealer so I can have a full service history.

Total breakdown of the bill is as follows :

Carry out 7,500 mile service = £74.25
Oil Filter = £10.11
Gasket = £0.71
Screenwash = £1.99
Super Lube = £1.99
Oils Used = £26.32
Sundry Items Used = £6.00

Vat = £21.24
TOTAL = £142.61

Anyway they have just succeded in losing a(nother) customer as I think I will be going to Cheam Subaru in future (Sunil I will listen to your advice from now on!). Out of interest how much do other dealers charge??

This topic was thrashed out last week and no doubt many times before - do a search!

My 7,500 is due on Thursday - booked in to Nobles of Penicuik - hope the bill is less than your £142.61 !

joey,
I was charged £99 recently,still a rip off though.
£1.99 for screenwash is taking the ****,you can get 5 litres for that price.

I would query your bill though as it does seem rather steep.

cheers paul

Cool

As far as I know, Bell&Covill charge (approx)

1st £140
2nd £200
3rd £350

I sold mine before I got to the second service, but the first cost the same as yours Joey, at B&C..

My P1 is 5500 away from its 1st service, thats 2 months away then... ouch... ;(

Joey,

I hoped someone would find out the servicing cost from B@C. I've got a service comming up in a month or so. Had already decided on Cheam though.

My car will be in Steve's care so I know it will be well looked after. If it isn't........

adelasalle,

Did the £200 for the 15,000/1 Year service include the body check as well?? If not then that is £200 for a simple Oil/Oil Filter/Air Filter/Spark Plug (Yes I know they are in an akward place!) change. Add another £100 for the body service and you are talking £300!!

If I wanted to get F**ked that hard I would go and see Sunil's Girlfriend!!

Not sure about the exact details of each service, just been told the rough prices for the 1/2/3 services... Looks like I'll be having my car serviced 4 times a year!! there goes the beer money...

Cheers, Alex

erm, "without prejudice"

I have no sympathy for you, YOU ARE THE BIGGEST ****.

No point in doing your famous vanishing act then coming on here and crying over spilt milk

I told you to stay well away from B&C. Not only have they ripped you off, they have probably done a crap service too. Did i tell the whole world that they left the sump plug washer off my car at the 1k service (the only one they got to do)

£40 + my oil Mobil 1 Motorsport 15w50 at £43 = £83 and they rotated my wheels with a general check over everything.

Sunil,

Maybe it was my fault for not asking the price in advance but I thought saying "YOU ARE THE BIGGEST ****." was maybe a little harsh???

Anyway I only posted this to warn others, not to get ridiculed but cheers anyway!

The first item on your bill is roughly what Robinsons of Rochdale charge in total for the full job, inc. screenwash etc etc. They have their prices clearly displayed on the wall and if you ring them up they will tell you what you will pay.

You Southern softies should arrange a "business" trip North and get it done then.

What's all this about spark plugs at 15k? Are these garages all members of the "Saw You Coming Group"?

Next they'll be telling you they have never heard of clutch judder!

Had my car in for a 15,000 mile service yesterday. £304, but that did include the door bump strips and fitting a strut brace!

Anyway Mill Lane (Basingstoke) have a promotion at the momment. 'Subaru spec' Mobil 1 for the cost of the normal semi-synthetic Mobil.

Had my 7.5K done the other week at Pickering. Cost ~£120 this included the fitting of SS back box and ITG filter plus a few minor warranty things.

eeeeh it's grand up north

DazV where did you get your serviced? I wish I had known you were going to get rid of your back box - I live in a quiet residential area and who cares about the noise!!!! -----It's a Scooby thing.

Fosters,

Don't know why this topic has suddenly been reopened but they initially charged me £142.61 for a normal service. When B&C sent me a customer satisfaction survey after the event I filled it in and basically told them I was never going back as they charge too much. Imagine my surprise when a few days later I got an apology through the post telling me that I had been "accidentally" charged the wrong rate and that it was a one off (Speaking to other people I am not convinced it was) anyway they also sent me a refund cheque for £45.67.

Anyway you can read what other people had to say about this at :

I paid just over 300 at Osborns in colchester for the 1 year, including body service. I wasnt impressed tho.

1) They still havent sent the invoice, cos their computer was down when I went.
2) They put an advert in true grip about SIDC discount, but dont offer it, it was a 1 month special, they blamed true grip, but I did ask when I booked it in (they wernt sure on reception!)

going back to Days of Chelmsford. Were much better.

6 monthly was well under 100 at Days, but I cant remember how much.

It annoys me that these things vary so much. Toyota had fixed prices.

My 7500m service was.... £65 (inc Vat).... yes I know it was expensive - but then the oil - Silkolene stuff was about £35+ vat.

The filter costs me about £4 - yes £4 - sounds like the Scooby dealers are ripping people off - hey ho

Presumably you lads need to get it done at a Scooby dealer for warranty - if not go to a cheaper local garage - as the servicing is easy

Saying that if you want a professional service then I can highly recommend Steve Lawson of Cheam Motors - knows his stuff - which makes a refreshing change
