View Full Version : Donegal Rally Mal K 24 March 2007, 15:46 Going this Summer and would appreciate any tips for spectating, best stages etc. Cheers Rcomms 28 March 2007, 12:27 Your in for a treat :thumb:. I reckon Donegal and Killarney have the best stages here. To be honest there is rarely any bad stages in it! But if you can, try to get to the classics like Atlantic Drive and Knockalla. Atlantic Drive is quite difficult to get into, your best bet is getting there early and driving through, finding a spot and staying there for the duration. The hairpins at the beginning of knockalla are usually popular and for good reason. Looks right out over the bay as the cars come up towards you. :thumb: Mal K 28 March 2007, 18:38 Thanks for that, are the stages run twice and what's it like to move around to other stages? DCR59 28 March 2007, 22:42 Friday's stages are the closest to Letterkenny, and are pretty close together. Only problem with these ones are the lanes are pretty narrow with high hedges. So getting a good view isn't the easiest. Saturday morning the stages are South of Letterkenny, but have good access and on one stage you can see 3 or 4 cars at a time such are the views. In the afternoon they move to the North with Knockalla, etc. There is a bottleneck with the traffic over a stupid bridge in a village - can't remember the name without looking out my maps. Sunday it's Atlantic Drive, and as Rcomms says, get there early and into the stage. Most stages are run twice, but you'll get to about 10-12 stages over the weekend. Buy a rally pack with programmme and maps. Nearly all shops and garages sell them and it's all you'll need. Your in for a great weekend, I've been for the last 4 years now and will be back this year. Now for the best bit. Ford are thinking about sending Hirvonnen, and Citroen could be sending Loeb or Sordo. Some of the stages are likely to be included in Rally Ireland, so it's a bit of practice for them. Mal K 29 March 2007, 09:27 Excellent, sounds like we're in for a good weekend. Thanks for the Info. |
