Just out of interest, what do you get for your money?
i.e, what would 3K buy, 5K etc....
The drivetrain seems quite a good base for conversions.
Damaged suspension, cracked gearboxes, bent propshaft, kinked pipes, split hoes, ripped wires, missing parts.
Why buy a wreck when you can get a clean runner from UK or Japan for same money?

Ok, perhaps totalled was too strong a word.Say something written off but repairable?

Stolen recovered early wrx import around £1k with locks damage/scratches etc.
lightly/med damaged uk turbo 2000 s-w reg around £1-£3.5k
try universal salvage or dhales.
or get a damaged import from japan, plenty available from £300 but then you have to add shipping, tax, vat etc but the bonus is that unlike the uk write offs their hpi clear.
That sounds good reasoning to me.

It would be nice to get something sensibly mechanically modded...
I had a brainstorm the other day...I'm looking at coming into some brass when I sell my house and want a toy, if you saw it, that was what the elise vs VX220 thread was about.
Then I had another brainstorm after 911 remarked on another thread that the subaru running gear and suspension ( bar top mounts ) is on sub frames.
The brainstorm looked something like this :D
