Question

I guess the title says it all! I am trying to remove the little bit of trim just under the air vents on a UK MY97 so I can fit my Blitz turbo timer there.

I think that this is where the cup holder would be if one was fitted but one isn't.

Anyone got any idea how to get this bit of trim off?

Tom

Tom,

When you say MY97 do you have the central cubby box in your dash?

If so, then this little trim finisher is held in with 2 metal clips behind the dash, attached to 2 plastic 'tounges' on the trim. I had to brutalise mine to get it out and broke one of the plastic tounges, I couldn't see an easier way of removing the part I'm affraid, and the slot behind is only about 15mm high and 100mm wide.

Hi tklimes,

I've just had a DSBCU & turbo timer fitted to my MY97, but I fitted mine (or at least PE did) inside the ashtray. The ashtray simply pulls out and makes aperfect size hole.

You'll need to knock up a plate to cover the rest of the gap but it looks nice and tidy.

Cheers

Gazza

Tim - yes it has the dash top cubby hole (soon to be replaced with guages when funds allow). I tried to gently prise it out but chickened out when I thought it would break the mountings. You have confirmed my fears...

Gazza - the ashtray has already been replaced by a Geodesy - so no chance of mounting it there...
