this has now happened twice
spent ages editing a photo. for some reason you can't see the size of the brush you're using, and the menus aren't working at all. I had to crash out before, re-do the work (the menus were working to start with), now it's happened again - no menus

any ideas?

I have the same problem with the brush size sometimes :Suspiciou
Never had the problem with the menus though.

No idea as to why it does it though, Sorry. :wonder:

I get problems like this using CS2 on XP (on Win2K no such problems). Yesterday for example I was working on RAW files from the Geneva Motor Show processing them one at a time. I minimized one and hey presto when I tried to get it back Photoshop crashed for no reason at all. Have also had problems where it just locks up completely when doing a simple paint job...God knows what it's going to be like under Vista! What I do is to open the RAW file, save it as a PSD straight away and then every four or five minutes save it just in case CS2 goes belly up on me.

It worked fine this morning. Annoying though. Not had any problems before. got Vista, but left it on the laptop until I have a compatible modem.

Nice pics from the show BTW. Some nice cars too!

Sounds like it might be a driver issue. I'm running CS2 on XP and Vista 64 bit, edited thousands of photos and never had this problem.

What graphics card are you using and have you tried installing the latest drivers?

running on a Dell P3, standard appart from 2Gb RAM. always run fine until yesterday. Did the same after restarting PS too (though not rebooting).

Haven't really tried PS on Vista yes, but will once I get a new modem. The laptop's only 512Mb, which I don't think would be enough.

I wouldn't recommend running Vista on a machine with less than 1gb of ram. It's not a pleasant experience...

I'd definitely check to see if there are any updated display drivers for your machine. I seen similar symtoms to those you described (in other software, not CS2), and they were fixed by updating to the latest drivers...

Well, I had the disappearing brush problem too. Had me stuck for ages, but it was...........

Caps Lock was on!

As for your crashing, no idea.

Oh dear, I'll have to check that. not sure I'll admit it though, I'll come up with some techno-waffle to explain it...

Ok, so maybe you can help with some wierdness I've been experiencing..

Installed CS2 on my new laptop some while ago; Keyboard shortcuts don't work - e.g. ctrl-L for levels.

I *know* the ctrl key is working as it functions as a tool modifier, e.g. for changing selections from add to subtract etc.

Been through all the settings I can find.. WTF?
