ive been watching him since he woz a kid and also toseland fae the wsb i met him when he woz a school boy and congratulated him at knockhill coz a few weeks before he had won the under 16's cup race in england and i told him u r a future champion and the crowd laffed and he went pale

but i knew he had potential, such a nice lad , i got his autograph at the time as well and rossi i never met him but loved the guy since he woz a youngster riding 125's

God willing may he win the championship again ameen

i felt so gutted, he won wae an aprilia in the lower classes and then honda and then he proved tae people he can win on a yamaha tae

i grew up watching my hero carl fogarty mate , when i woz a kid i woz obsessed aboot him and joey dunlop , foggy rocked the blackburn bullet :D and them max biaggi and finally the best of the best valentino

Yes you are right it's the ability to win titles on different bikes that makes you world class.

mate im right intae bikes i woz born wae a bike it seems lol since i woz a kid mate, right obsessed aboot them

i had bikes since i woz 12, motoxross and then i passed my test and got a yamaha dt125r trailer bike and at 17 i got a cbr600 but the insurance woz crap it went doon after a yr

and i sold that after a few yrs i needed the money tae save the business after my dad died, rip, when i woz gonna buy a yamaha r1 i decided tae buy a evo instead, i couldnt afford tae loose my legs mate, im looking after my wife and my widowed mum so i never went back tae bikes

i always wanted a yamaha r1 and then the zx10 and zx12 r came oot :) lurvley

but my cousin has a cbr600 so i borrow that in summer

i used tae have piles of bike magazines every month since i woz a teenager

superbikes, bike, what bike, back street racers etc and many other superbike mags

u remember the carl fogarty and scott russell rivalry , beautiful, foggy even called his pig scott :D haha


and then foggy vs john kocinski , john won the race, i have a painting copy of their race at assen

beautiful :) and chili;s brother i met him, he woz staying in glasgow for a few months and i didnt know who he woz but he looked like frankie chili and one day he mentioned tae me if i heard of chili, i says oh aye he is one of the bikers i luv, he said he is my wee brother

i had a shock :D

yeah i can remember the scraps that Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz used to have.

i was a big fan of number 34 and his crash or win attitude.

Agree with this. NO ONE, not even Rossi, had the attitude and mental dominance of Doohan. He has them all beat still sitting in his motorhome.

Every practice session, every test, he just wanted to crush the opposition and normally did. It was his downfall in the end though. Even swapped to a inferior engine (from a big bang to a conventional screamer) to mess with his rivals heads and whupped their asses. When they tried the same engine they just highsided into oblivion.

Have been lucky enough to spend time with the guy in a social situation and he really is a nice bloke as well, not like the chap you used to see on the TV and press conferences at all.
