Anyone know any route details yet for spectating please ?
Official website not detailing any yet - though as based at Whitby could make some assumptions - but would like some timings.
I know they have PR problems elsewhere, so Dalby likely to be only publicised stage(s).

Good to see you again Darren. We managed to stay out of trouble today ;)

A few pics from today (my usual excellent standard ;)) with a few S/Netters included. I beleive Shelly beat Alex, though I think you were having trouble when you came past us in Cropton Alex.
Well done Nick, great result :D

Hi Guys

To summerise my weekend :- Terrible. but at least we finished.:notworthy

I'll explain tomorrow in greater detail, only just got in !

Basically, before rally, couldnt find B+B, took ages, then manegment car kept overheating, so we ended up using a 1.1 Peugeot 205.
SS1+2 were ok, just wasnt on the pace (not enough corners on this event, my car is too slow!!)
SS3, MASSIVE long straight, flat in 5th, square left (artifically tightened) braking, all going well, then total disaster as the N/S/F brake disc broke. hence heading to square left way way to fast. Couldnt stop. Heres the best bit...... Suicide spectators were stood directly infront of the straight    ended up scattering them (how i didnt kill any i dunno) clipped a woman with the wing mirror, took another 100-200 yrds to stop the car (with no front brake) Span it round (h/brake turn) then carried on with no brakes, about 5 miles to end of stage approx. Had another "off" into a ditch where another crew and speccies/marshals pushed us out, just couldnt get the car stopped up in time, then got to manegement. What hadnt we put in the car !!???

A BRAKE DISC !!!

Done the last stage with no front brakes, the disc slapping about inside the wheel. Lost about a minute with it, if not a touch more. 13.5 miles:brickwall .
Then, 3 miles from end, Wheel bearing on N/S/F Exploded.
Mangaged to finish the stage, and got down road section (at 20mph) to finish. Just about finished, wheel just about hanging on.

Will post pics of Damage tomorrow so you can alll go  .

But jesus, them spectators at that junction. Cant believe it. :cuckoo: Have in car footage to show how riduclars it was where they were stood.

To top it all, the focus (usual manegment car, Yellow focus estate, sure you've all seen it) gave up alltogether not far past malton. (Waterpump) so that'll have to be collected at some point next week. Good job it's only 2hrs up the road. :lol1:

More write up tomorrow when i've had some sleep and took photos.
Off for a few beers now. ;)

Alex.

ALEX307D
31 March 2007, 22:29
Oh,
End result 23rd Overall and 11th in GpN.

 and yes, shelly beat me. but only by 2 seconds in the end. hahaha :lol1:

Brake discs were BRAND NEW ones at start also !! tututtut !

At least you finished Alex mate! I was at the inside of the 90 right through gate posts and you looked sideways going into that...car was didnt recover from the square left moment obviously. There were spectators standing directly at the bottom of the small straight before the 90 right through the gates which was also a bit suicidal as a few over shot it in a similar fashion to yourselves.

only saw one car hit the post proper though it was a MK2 and the post destroyed the back quarter of the car. he kept on going through so mustnt have damaged his wheel :thumb:

ALEX307D
01 April 2007, 11:28
It was henri Grehan who hit the post i think, he managed to carry on and win his class.

Yeah, i did sort of slide wide at the following square right, mainly due to no front brakes, it was like driving with the handbrake only.

I dunno if i actually knocked anyone over, i know i definately hit the woman on my side with the mirror/rear bumper.
No one was on the floor when i came back up, so just carried on. :cuckoo:

HHHmmm....
An event we normally enjoy. Were looking forward to as think we are getting used to the N10 now. Had 2 spins on stage one, just struggled t scrub a bit of speed into two square rights. Also i dont think it hepled running on wets wen it was actually very dry which supprised us.On the following road section we heard a knocking sound from the rear nearside of the car, a little investigation at management discovered it was not a rotational sound. It was the rear suspension leg (OHLINS!!!!!!! ) (After stage one we were 21st overall.) As there was little we could do but hope it lasted the rally we went with it.
Finished stage 2 with no dramas with a 15th overall quickest time, but at the end of the stage the knocking from suspension was worse and continuous. At service after investigation there was nothing w could do as we headed for stage 3.
A mile into stage 3 on a fast right hander the suspenion collapsed and spat us off into a tree on the inside of the corner the bank before the tree scrubbed alot of the speed off. As we slid back down the tree we had straddeled 2 stumps one eitherside of the wishbone which ment we were unable to drive off the tree.
After alot of work from the recovery units we were able to limp back to our service crew.
Damage supprisingly wasnt to bad looks like just bonnett (may tap out), front bumper, numberplate washer bottle bracket, bit of welding on sump.
Few pics on website

infact, the top photo of me looks like it was the 2nd run of Langdale, near the latter half of the stage when the wheel bearing had let go, judging by the angle of the wheel. And still no front brakes. :brickwall :brickwall :brickwall
Least I struggled it to the finish !:Whatever_

Well done to get over the finish line Alex loking at the sorry state of the front n/s.... I'd say the brake manufacturer ought to see that disc as it looks like a major failure.. - who was the manufacturer?
Its' still no excuse to let Shelly & Julie beat you though.... !!! :freak3:

Nice pics from Mr. Hardy yet again.:notworthy

why oh why did I sell my car .......................:(

PS Alex - got lots of brake bits, and hub bits for you mate. :thumb:
