View Full Version : So, who's eclipse watching then?
AndyC_772 03 March 2007, 21:28 I am, but only with my EOS 33, 70-200 and 1.4X TC. I have about 1/2 a roll of film left from ages ago that I may as well finish off.
My 1DmkII and 100-400L have gone back to Canon to be calibrated again... properly this time
scoobian 03 March 2007, 21:41 battery charged, cards emptied, all ready
....and the clouds have JUST covered it!..looks like they're in for the night too
I am, but only with a 70-300 on a 350D...

CharlieWhiskey 04 March 2007, 00:03 Can't get a decent 25 sec exposure even with a 1.6 crop factor, 100-400 IS L and a Manfrotto majic arm, there is just too much movement when the shutter fires :(
Gone quite red now though
scoobian 04 March 2007, 00:12 its a pumpkin!!

handheld Olympus E500. 150 (300mm equiv.) lens, 0.5sec /f4.5, ISO400
Big Bear 04 March 2007, 00:37 Well my tripod broke :( hand held ones are ok , but no long exposure
Best I can do. Using mirror lock, high ISO and low exposure compensation....best left to others :)

Best I could manage. Really need a remote shutter release, or IS lenses (but too pricey for me :( ).
350D, 70-200L, 0.5s shutter, F/4, ISO 1600, on a cheapish tripod, but out of about 20 odd shots, 2 that were anywhere near acceptable, and still not pin sharp.
Simon C 04 March 2007, 01:25 I certainly didn't waste a few hours trying astrophotography :D

Iain Young 04 March 2007, 02:05 I've been playing in a concert tonight, so didn't have time to get the telescope out and cooled down before the eclipse (it had already started happening before I got home), so I had to make do with these instead. Canon 5D with a 100-400L lens on it...

Duck_Pond 04 March 2007, 02:39 Lovely Iain...
A couple of the shots I took of the event... also with 100-400mm, on a 350D, on a tripod for once, and with a delayed shutter.
Gone! (eclipsed it had a nice warm colour to it)

flat4 05 March 2007, 00:43 My memory card failed on me :mad: but would have looked **** through a 200mm so not that bothered :D
Duck_Pond 05 March 2007, 09:38 You broke something Kev? That is a shock :lol1:
flat4 05 March 2007, 10:59 I actually lent it to someone at Port Vale FC so he could copy the pictures from Miss Stoke i'd just took to his laptop before i left. I will not be doing this again  thankfully i'd already downloaded them to my Powerbook so you could say a PC broke it :p

I've never had any problems with CF cards on a PC, but I've had one screwed up by a Mac. Luckily I had already copied them onto my laptop otherwise I'd have lost the lot!
flat4 05 March 2007, 11:31 Bit of an odd one, Micordrive so not technically a CF card, but it was due to be replaced with a faster CF card sometime soon anyway so not too bothered, just glad it did it now rather than at a more critical time :D
AndyC_772 05 March 2007, 11:40 Odd, that - I had a Microdrive scrambled when I borrowed a mate's 350D for a weekend. Once it had been formatted in the 350D, it wouldn't work in my 1D any more, but would still work in the 350D, and in my PC, and in my old D30.
tyron.c 07 March 2007, 00:50 some nice shots there guys!
i couldnt get my tiny tripod right and gave up :(
Will have to buy me a decent one.
