I once had a cat I called numptie, named so because we used to work with this Scottish guy that called most of us Numpties at one time or another, we believed that it was a Scottish slang word for idiot, anyway when the cat went to the vets for its first jabs the woman on reception thought it was a really sweet name and different to the usual cat names, come the day of said injections their happened to be a different receptionist, she was a native of Scotland and wasnt impressed by the name, tried to tell us it was slang for a part of the female anatomy otherwise known as a *****!!
Is this true??, I still find it highly amusing, the look of disgust on her face when young numptie turned up.
You can now buy sweets called numptys, made by the same people who do nerds.

A Numptie is a stupid person. As a Scot myself I fail to see the humour in why you would want to call your Cat, 'Numptie' - Why not just try '****'!! - However, never heard it referring to a certain part of the female anatomy (That IS a **** !!!), Therefore, Numptie, along this same train of thought, I fail to see why you would want to call yourself an idiot ?? - Does Numptie mean something different in your neck of the woods ???
