I like photo 1 and 9. I feel photo 6 would be much better if it did not have the tree on the right hand side, a simple crop or setting up the photo better in the first place will cure this. Practice makes perfect and i am no expert.

A couple of very minor things from me (even though I know less than nothing about these type of shots and am too lazy to go off trekking to get some!)....

Your horizons and verticals on the churches seem a little bit out, a quick straighten will do wonders.
I think your jpg compression is too high and is leaving artifacts that detract, 60k files for 800 wide pics is a bit small these days..
And a few could do with a quick sharpen to bring them up especially after being resized, they've been left a touch soft.

Like I said, nothing major, I'm just a fussy bugger on presentation!!

Keep them coming.

Is the difference between the two pictures simply a result of sharpening or did you tweak anything else?

Just a quick and dirty sharpen so a bit savage TBH, the middle one in the sequence has a USM guassian that I usually use that hasn't haffected the image as much:

Thanks for the comments, these are all shot in RAW, nothing done to them apart from convert to jpg, then resized for the web. may try again with a little less compression, but trying to learn all the tricks for editing pics.

Thanks again, any further comment will be listened to very carefully!!!

Will try and do some more soon,

Stewart.

Which RAW processing software are you using?

It looks to me like they could do with a bit of tweaking to colour temperature & contrast. On the composition side I think 11 is much better than 12, as it uses the leading lines of the path to draw you into the picture, but you need to watch out for strong shadows in such harsh light.

Number 2 might also have been better in portrait orientation, as there is a lead in line which takes the eye towards the tree, but theres far too much going on in that pic with the sheep everywhere.

Remember the old saying Keep It Simple ;)

Thanks for the comments. Using the RAW software that came with the 400D, dont know what im doing with it so just converting to jpg really. i still have all the original files, so if i can figure it out i can make changes.

As for the composition, i may start taking each picture in Portrait and Landscape, so i can then make the choice.

But, for my first intended afternoon out, i was quite pleased with some of my shots.

Thanks again for the comments.

Stew.

Some good shots but "rule of thirds" could of helped on the composition of some. Can still be achieved with a bit of cropping.
