Hello!

Could anyone give me some pointers as i would liek to try and do it this weekend. Do i just need to splice the wires on the passanger side motor and run them to the new motor on the drivers side ?

Any info appreciated

What year car is it? does it open the other doors when you turn the key on the drivers door? if so all the wiring should be in / near or around the drivers kick panel. You'll then just need a master solenoid fitting in the drivers door.

The motor on my driver door has a single metal rod (maybe 2) this connects to the door lock rod. So however you wire this motor to operate via a fob etc, this will then open & close the door lock.
The rest of the doors open via a switch (+/-) in the driver door, which then sends the signal (to the central locking relay) opening & closing the passenger doors.

The way Ticky mentions will work but its a lot less hassle and wiring if a Master solenoid (or thats what they used to be called) is fitted as it has the other switch already built into it so the rest of the doors open if you use the key on the drivers door or the alarm remote (if an alarm is fitted that is).

its a 93wrx, i have a maplin central locking motor / solenoid ready to fit

So i need to find the 2 wires that run for a second or 2 to activate the motor, then they reverse to pull it open.

Where abouts in the kick well? under the the steering wheel?

I am still confused at what your doing but never mind.
The central locking relay is located in the passenger footwell side. (lh)
If you remove the door sill it will help you get better access to it.

Otherwise trace the wires off the drivers door switch.

Sorry i didn't make it clear as to why i am doing it.

I want to get an alarm fitted, with remote central locking. To do this i need a motor in the drivers door (Not there as standard)

So when i activate the central locking via the key fob the signal is sent (like turning the key) and all the motors will pulse and lock / unlock the car

I understand know. My car works the same way except the motor in the drivers door gets it power from the alarm unit. The motor is not spliced wired into any of the car wiring.

But a few questions?

What model year is your car.
When you open the drivers door with the key does it automatically open the passengers door too.

Done it!!

Spliced into the original central locking feed to the passanger side motor, for anyone else's future reference this is a lime green wire and a red with green stripe:

I then ran the cables though the dash, thought the gromet and into the door, then located the motor in such a way the door card still fitted:

So now i can get an alarm fitted and have remote central locking!!
