for an eos 1d IIn + 50mm f1.2 lens (2kg) ?

i just want one big/strong enough for the above that i can have on my shoulder to walk around.

ideally with one pocket for spare battery, 2 filters and some CF cards too.

Okay, i found these

LowePro - Toploader 65 AW
Tamrac - TA5629 - Pro Digital Zoom 9
Domke - F-4AF

internal dimensions need to accomodate 15.6x15.7x145cm or (6.2x6.2x5.8inches)

any experience of these?

The biggest problem you'll have is the height of a 1D, it's a tight squeeze in a lot of bags that are designed for an SLR without a grip attached.

I have a Lowepro Nova 4 which is OK, very well made and just big enough for a 1D with a normal lens, a couple of spare batteries, a flash and some memory cards. Should be ideal.

I use a Crumpler Pizza bag ( medium ) when I'm 'walking' about. Holds my 350D with lens, spare battery, cf cards and at push a spare lens ( kit size ) Ideal for walking around as it doesn't look like a camera bag, bloody tough and hard wearing aswell....

Somewhere on the Crumpler site ( amongst the madness ) there is a bag selector, type in your required dimensions and it tells you what bag you require..
Crumpler make bags, great bags for all your baggy needs. (http://www.crumpler.co.uk)

Mogsi, I looked at the crumpler series on warehouse express and didn't find anything suitable.

Andy, the Lowepro range seems top favourite. is the Nova 4 comfortable over the head/shoulder against your back (out the way) when your walking/shooting?

I can't say I've noticed a problem; the shoulder/neck strap has a stiffened, curved section in it to stop it chafing the neck too badly. I tend to carry it by my right hip with the strap over my left shoulder.

If I want to carry the camera on my back then I use my Lowepro Mini Trekker instead, which is also a great bag that has survived a lot of use and abuse.

Crumplers are for surf dudes, hippies etc. & look too much handbags for GAY hairdressers IMHO ;)

LowePro stuff is pretty good, the Nova series should be a good compromise for the shape of your 'odd' simple set-up ;) (as opposed to most peoples multiple zooms) but having seen them at the NEC exhibition I'd also check out the smaller of the 'Stealth Reporter' ones. You should only need a small one for you 'ickle' lens, but it might fit better the other way round to the conventional position :D Check out the LowePro website (http://www.lowepro.com/) as it gives you views of what will fit and also the internal dimensions.:thumb:

I only meant that your odd, not the camera ;)

Great lens too:thumb: but I'm too lazy to 'zoom with my feet' :D

Not sure if it fits your needs but I have a Crumpler Bunnyman you can have for 20 quid if you want, used a couple of times, chest strap is missing.

Get the crumpler pdf with the naked bird in it if you need to gauge the size!

I've got soooo many different camera bags it's embarassing - soon I'll have to cut my wife some slack on the shoe buying.

The 1D is a deep camera which is generally the limiting factor. I've got a Toploader 75 which is bigger, but I use it with 70-200 / 100-400 / 28-300 lenses (they're all about the same size) - so it somewhat depends on whether you're sticking with the 50mm....

When I bought mine it was called a Toploader Pro and came with a waterproof cover, shoulder strap & chest harness. The latter is useful for activities where you dont want it banging around, but do need it accessible - best skiing bag around IMHO.
